The expanded portfolio of sport closures combines functionality, consumer convenience, and eco-conscious design

USA – Aptar Closures is set to showcase a trio of tamper-evident, recyclable sports beverage closures at Drinktec 2025, held from September 15-19 in Munich, Germany.
These advanced solutions, NexTE, Rocket, and Balance, are designed to align with the European Union’s Single-Use Plastics Directive and Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
The NexTE 29.25 Sport Closure, described as sleek and streamlined, offers one-handed operation and a non-detachable tamper-evident band that flexes for easy opening.
According to industry experts, this closure enhances the drinking experience for products such as water, juices, and sports drinks, while ensuring compliance with EU regulations.
Its design supports both ambient and dry aseptic fill applications, making it versatile for various beverage categories.
The Rocket GME 30.40 Sport Closure, a three-piece design, prioritizes user comfort with a wide opening and advanced hinge technology that prevents spring-back.
“Our goal is to elevate the consumer experience without compromising sustainability,” said Nicola Maffi, Director of Operational Marketing for Closures EMEA at Aptar Closures.
The closure’s tamper-evident band, which is tethered and non-removable, provides clear evidence of prior opening, thereby enhancing security.
It also supports lighter neck finishes, reducing bottle weight without sacrificing functionality, and is available with an optional thermoplastic elastomer valve.
Complementing these innovations, the Balance GME 30.40 Sport Closure, crafted from mono-polypropylene, emphasizes recyclability and ease of use. Its active hinge keeps the lid clear during drinking, catering to active lifestyles.
A distinctive “click” upon closing offers audible and tactile reassurance of security.
“We’re committed to forward-thinking solutions that blend functionality with eco-conscious design,” Maffi stated, highlighting the closure’s alignment with sustainability goals.
In a statement, Maffi expressed excitement about debuting the portfolio, which combines consumer convenience with regulatory compliance.
Adding to recent developments, a report by Packaging Europe highlights that Aptar Closures recently introduced a flow control valve and retaining ring system for reusable beverage containers, emphasizing contactless and leak-free dispensing.
Meanwhile, other industry players, like Husky Technologies, have also advanced circular economy goals with PET-based, tamper-proof closures.
