BCMPA mourns the loss of Rodney Steel, former CEO and industry leader

UK – The BCMPA regrets to announce the passing of Rodney Steel, former chief executive, after a brief illness.

A prominent figure in the contract manufacturing, packing, and logistics sectors, Steel adeptly led the BCMPA from 2003 until his retirement in June of the previous year.

Under his stewardship, the Association evolved into a formidable advocate, spotlighting the offerings of the UK’s contract manufacturing, packing, fulfillment, and logistics sectors to global brands, retailers, and entrepreneurs.

Emma Verkaik, chief executive of the BCMPA, extended her condolences, stating, “We are all profoundly saddened by this news and extend our deepest sympathy to Rodney’s family and friends.

“He was responsible for the collaboration with Easyfairs and the development of the BCMPA Contract Pack & Fulfillment Show at Packaging Innovations.

“He introduced the BCMPA Sponsored ‘Co Manufacturer & Packer of the Year Award’ as part of the UK Packaging Awards. His absence will be keenly felt by myself, the BCMPA members, and the industry at large.”
