BGC divests 26% of packaging arm to Swan Industries

By joining forces, the companies aim to offer a broader, more competitive range of packaging solutions.

THAILAND – Bangkok Glass Container Public Company Limited (BGC), a leading player in integrated packaging services under the Bangkok Glass Group, has divested a 26% stake in its subsidiary, BGC Packaging (BGCP), to Swan Industries, marking a strategic alliance aimed at boosting Thailand’s packaging industry capabilities.

According to The Nation, the deal is expected to unlock significant growth potential for both parties, as BGCP, known for its diversified packaging portfolio including plastic and corrugated paper solutions, leverages Swan Industries’ market expertise and customer reach.

Swan Industries is a major name in Thailand’s metal can packaging segment, serving sectors such as food and beverages, processed fruits and vegetables, snacks, pet food, consumer goods, and industrial products.

This move comes amid increasing regional demand for cost-effective, innovative, and sustainable packaging, especially from food and beverage manufacturers responding to changing consumer and regulatory expectations.

By joining forces, BGC and Swan aim to offer a broader, more competitive range of packaging solutions while also facilitating synergies across their respective networks.

The partnership will also support BGCP’s expansion efforts beyond its existing markets by enabling access to Swan Industries’ extensive customer base.

Both companies anticipate a rise in sales from current clients and growth in new business segments as a result of this collaboration.

Additionally, the agreement is set to strengthen innovation capabilities through close cooperation between BGC’s Technology and Innovation Centre and Swan’s food-sector expertise.

The collaboration is expected to yield advanced packaging designs that are not only high in quality and functional value but also aligned with growing calls for sustainability and lower environmental impact.

Thailand’s packaging industry has been undergoing significant transformation as companies respond to global trends such as circular economy goals, eco-packaging mandates, and heightened demand for recyclable and reusable materials.

This partnership positions BGC and Swan Industries at the forefront of these shifts.

The deal underscores BGC’s strategy to evolve from a traditional glass bottle producer into a fully integrated packaging powerhouse, encompassing multiple materials and technologies.

With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices, BGC and Swan aim to contribute meaningfully to the modernization and competitiveness of Thailand’s packaging sector on both domestic and regional fronts.
