Boxon expands into North Africa with Morocco office, warehouse

The expansion aims to strengthen its local presence as well as support the region’s rapidly growing automotive industry.

MOROCCO – Swedish packaging company Boxon has announced a significant step in its global expansion strategy with the opening of a new office and warehouse in Morocco.

The move, unveiled on September 2, is aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in North Africa and supporting the region’s fast-growing automotive industry.

The facility will provide local and operational support, improve collaboration with Moroccan producers, and shorten delivery times for customers.

“Starting early next year, Boxon will provide customers in Morocco with shorter lead times, greater flexibility, and enhanced collaboration with both local producers and trusted European partners,” the company said in a statement.

Morocco has emerged as a key hub for the automotive sector, attracting international carmakers and suppliers to its numerous industrial zones.

Incentives of up to 30% of total investment, coupled with strategic trade agreements and proximity to Europe, have made the country a magnet for foreign investment.

The automotive industry is now Morocco’s leading export sector, creating over 116,000 jobs between 2014 and 2018 and continuing to expand its supply chain network.

Linus Lemark, CEO of Boxon Group, described Morocco as one of the most dynamic automotive markets globally.

“This step enables us to combine regional sourcing with European expertise,” he said, highlighting the company’s ambition to deliver smarter and more sustainable packaging solutions tailored to the needs of automotive manufacturers and their suppliers.

The expansion underscores a broader trend of international packaging firms investing in Africa to tap into its industrial growth.

Morocco, in particular, has positioned itself as a manufacturing powerhouse, not only in automotive but also in aerospace, textiles, and agriculture, all sectors with strong demand for high-quality and sustainable packaging.

Boxon’s entry also signals increased competition and collaboration opportunities in the African packaging market, which is projected to grow steadily as industries scale up production and exports.

For automotive players in Morocco, local packaging support will be crucial in reducing supply chain bottlenecks, cutting costs, and meeting international standards.

By establishing operations on the ground, Boxon aims to reinforce its commitment to global customers while strengthening ties with regional industries.

The move aligns with its strategy of combining sustainability, innovation, and local expertise to deliver packaging solutions that meet the evolving demands of modern manufacturing.
