BW Packaging unveils Hayssen X850 flow wrapper for enhanced seal integrity

USA – BW Packaging has introduced the Hayssen X850 multi-jaw flow wrapper, targeting cheese and similar products that demand strong seals during rapid production runs. 

The equipment processes up to 300 cycles per minute while providing more than one second of dwell time for reliable sealing. It includes jam detection that clears blockages without halting operations, keeping lines moving efficiently.

Operators benefit from a film unwind system that adjusts tracking precisely, which simplifies loading new rolls and cuts idle time. 

Servo-driven jaws reduce mechanical stress, leading to less frequent servicing. The stainless steel frame withstands IP66 washdown protocols, and sloped hygienic surfaces prevent residue buildup. 

Temperature controls operate independently, supporting diverse films and zippers, including those made from recyclable sources.

Brantley Turner, senior product manager at BW Packaging, noted that the design incorporates smart features like RFID login and an advanced OpView HMI interface as standard. 

These elements simplify controls for all staff levels, he added.

This launch arrives amid growing emphasis on eco-friendly packaging tools. Earlier in 2025, ULMA Packaging rolled out its FM 400 horizontal flow wrapper for high-speed Modified Atmosphere Packaging in fresh foods. 

The machine handles barrier films ranging from laminates to shrink types and uses a 10-inch color touchscreen for monitoring. It prioritizes cleanability and long-term reliability to support daily operations.

In related developments, Copar advanced its recyclable flow wrap for sausages, a contender in the Sustainability Awards’ Commercialized Recyclable Packaging category. 

The material offers strong barriers against moisture, oxygen, and grease without raising costs, making it viable for broad food uses. Company representatives stated it cuts environmental effects while scaling easily for producers.

Recent progress in flexible packaging recyclability includes RecyClass’s certification of nitrocellulose-free inks on November 29, 2025. 

These inks enhance sorting and recovery rates for films in food wrappers, aiding manufacturers who integrate sustainable materials into machines like the Hayssen X850. 

Meanwhile, Flint Group reported a more than 33% drop in greenhouse gas emissions by the same date, achieved through optimized production of inks and coatings for packaging applications. 

This reduction aids the sector’s shift toward lower-impact supplies.

The Hayssen X850 enters a market where such innovations help food brands meet regulatory and consumer demands for reduced waste. 

BW Packaging expects it to integrate seamlessly into existing setups, with initial deliveries slated for early 2026.
