FINLAND – MM Kotkamills has announced the appointment of Marko Pekkola, as its new CEO effective January 2025.
Pekkola succeeds Päivi Suutari, who has led the company since 2021 and will transition to a Senior Advisor role until March 2025 before departing.
Pekkola brings extensive international experience, having served as Deputy CEO and CTO of MM Kotkamills for the past year. His leadership background includes Kesla Oyj, Neste Oyj, Stora Enso, and M-real roles.
MM Kotkamills, part of the MM Group, operates a pulp and paper mill in Kotka, Finland. It specializes in virgin fibre carton boards (FBB) for food service, demanding applications, and saturating kraft paper (SKP) for high-pressure laminates.
The mill has an annual production capacity of 580,000 tonnes.
Twin Rivers Paper promotes Tyler Rajeski to CEO
Meanwhile, Twin Rivers Paper Company has named Tyler Rajeski as its new CEO, effective February 1, 2025.
Rajeski, currently President and CFO, joined Twin Rivers in 2022 and has since overseen the company’s financial and operational strategies.
Rajeski succeeds Debabrata Mukherjee, who will remain involved as Chairman of the Board. With a finance degree from Siena College and extensive leadership experience, including roles at Atlas Holdings, Rajeski is well-positioned to lead Twin Rivers, a key producer of specialty paper products.
Previously, Tyler held Associate and Senior Associate positions with Atlas Holdings, which acquired Twin Rivers in 2013.
Sonoco announces interim CFO and leadership changes
Sonoco Products Company has appointed Jerry Cheatham as interim CFO following the departure of Rob Dillard.
Cheatham, a 36-year veteran at Sonoco, previously served as Vice President of Global Finance for the Industrial Paper Packaging segment.
Additionally, Shawn Munday has been named Vice President of Strategic Finance, overseeing global treasury, tax, and M&A functions. John Florence will take on expanded operational responsibilities for the North America Paper division while continuing as General Counsel and Secretary.
Sonoco is searching for a permanent CFO while Roger Schrum, a retired company veteran, steps in as interim Head of Investor Relations.
USDA appoints Paper and Packaging Board Members
Under the USDA, the Paper and Packaging Board (P+PB) has appointed five new members, including Steve Henry of Domtar as Chair and Brandon Bennett of Georgia-Pacific as Vice Chair.
Steve Henry of Domtar, Brandon Bennett of Georgia-Pacific and Erin Raccah of Sylvamo are appointed for three-year terms.
Anne Ayer of Sappi was appointed for a two-year term, and Richard Bennett of Suzano Packaging was appointed for a one-year term. The terms begin on January 1, 2025.
The Board oversees the national promotion program for paper and packaging, emphasizing sustainable choices.
