Cosmo Films USA expands North American operations with advanced slitter rewinder

The new slitter will allow the company to fulfil customer orders within 10 to 15 days from order dates

USA – Cosmo Films USA, a key player in specialty films and a subsidiary of India-based Cosmo First, has unveiled a significant expansion in its North American operations.

According to a recent announcement, the company has installed a state-of-the-art 120-inch-wide high-speed slitter rewinder at its Carol Stream Warehouse in Chicago.

The move aims to meet the surging demand for sustainable and flexible packaging solutions across the region, particularly in the food, beverage, and healthcare sectors.

The new slitter rewinder, capable of operating at speeds up to 3,000 feet per minute, is designed to process a variety of substrates, including biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), cast polypropylene (CPP), biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET), and PET glycol films.

This versatility enables the production of high-demand packaging formats such as sachets, pouches, and wraps.

In a statement, Cosmo Films global business head Kulbhushan Malik emphasized the importance of this investment:

“We have been growing year-over-year in the US market, and it continues to be a strategic priority for us,” he said.

“This new investment serves as an extended support platform from India, bringing us closer to customers and optimizing our business while creating value through a robust supply chain.”

The advanced equipment significantly reduces delivery times, allowing Cosmo Films to fulfill customer orders within 10 to 15 days.

This efficiency is expected to help clients streamline inventory management and cut warehousing costs through just-in-time delivery.

Sandeep Dutta, president of Cosmo Films North America, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction: “We have positioned ourselves as trusted partners for US businesses, offering quality products and technical support.”

“Our wide variety of barrier metallized films and chemical-coated products cater to multiple segments, addressing packaging needs with flexibility and reliability.”

A report by industry analysts underscores the growing North American flexible packaging market, projected to reach US$123.07 billion by 2034, driven by demand for lightweight and eco-friendly solutions.

Cosmo Films’ investment aligns with this trend, reinforcing its role as a leading supplier. Additionally, recent industry updates indicate that Cosmo First has also commissioned a high-speed 10.4-meter BOPP line in India, further enhancing its global production capacity.

This dual focus on innovation and sustainability positions Cosmo Films to deliver high-quality packaging solutions with unprecedented agility, meeting the evolving needs of its North American clientele.
