DRT Holdings bolsters portfolio with acquisition of Custom Machining Corporation

USA – Metal packaging manufacturing services provider, DRT Holdings has completed the acquisition of Custom Machining Corporation (CMC).

Founded in 2002 by Terri and Allan Ross, CMC offers high-speed, high-precision liner systems and parts for metal packaging applications that caters to the household products, food, beverage markets.

In addition, the company supplies rotary end liner systems to the metal packaging industry across the world.

Its varied range of high-performance end liner systems are designed to accurately apply food-safe liquid compounds to metal end interiors at speeds of nearly 6,000 ends per minute.

Under the deal, CMC will become part of DRT’s Metal Packaging Systems (DRT MPS) segment, widening MPS’ offerings of systems and aftermarket parts for the global food and beverage can industry.

CMC and DRT MPS will leverage their respective technical expertise to boost innovation and customer support across manufacturing, assembly, and distribution facilities in North America and Europe.

DRT MPS president Larry Churchwell said: “CMC is a highly complementary business to DRT MPS, and we are extremely excited to enhance the suite of solutions we provide to our respective customer bases.

“CMC is well respected for its quality, technical capability, and customer service, which we will continue to strengthen under the DRT banner.”

Mr. and Mrs. Ross added: “DRT is the right home for CMC’s associates and its valued customer relationships.

“We are aligned with DRT in preserving and continuing our unwavering commitment to quality and service. We look forward to the continued growth of the combined business.”

In 2021, Mill Rock made a strategic growth investment in DRT Holdings to support the company’s operational and commercial growth.

As part of the deal, Sharma Rao, a Senior Principal at Mill Rock, joined DRT’s board of directors and will focus on commercial expansion and growth across DRT’s aerospace segment.

In addition to Messrs Byun, Greulich and Rao, Jeffrey Long, Adi Pekmezovic, Christopher Whalen and Joseph Yorio of Mill Rock also joined DRT’s board of directors.

More recently, Mill Rock, through its newly formed growth platform, Mill Rock Advanced Materials, acquired Asbury Carbons, Inc. (“Asbury”) from the Riddle family and the Asbury Carbons, Inc.

Mill Rock Advanced Material focuses on investments in the advanced materials and industrial additives solutions markets.

Asbury provides advanced materials, specializing in carbon additive solutions for a wide range of end markets and applications.

The company is North America’s largest processor and supplier of natural and synthetic graphite and cokes and the world’s largest independent processor of graphite.
