Duplo enters labels market with Bar Graphic Machiner acquisition

BGM will maintain its brand identity as an independent division of the Duplo Group.

UK – Duplo, a global leader in print finishing solutions, has acquired Bar Graphic Machinery (BGM), a UK-based specialist in high-performance finishing equipment for labels and packaging.

The acquisition marks Duplo’s entry into the rapidly growing labels market, expanding its footprint in eco-conscious print sectors.

Located in West Yorkshire, BGM brings over three decades of expertise in crafting innovative equipment, including inspection slitter rewinders, narrow-web label slitter rewinders, rotary die-cutting rewinders, digital label converting systems, and flexible packaging finishing solutions.

According to industry insiders, this move strengthens Duplo’s ability to deliver sustainable, high-precision finishing technologies that align with the increasing demand for environmentally friendly packaging solutions.

In a statement, Duplo president Hideo Tanaka expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “We are delighted to welcome BGM into the Duplo family. Their reputation for engineering excellence and deep customer commitment aligns perfectly with our values.”

“Our role will be to support BGM’s next phase of growth, offering investment, strategic guidance, and access to our global expertise in sales, marketing, R&D, and manufacturing.”

This collaboration is expected to enhance BGM’s capacity to innovate while maintaining its commitment to quality and sustainability.

BGM will operate as an independent division within the Duplo Group, retaining its established brand identity and operational structure.

“Since we formed BGM over 30 years ago, we have worked hard to develop innovative products and provide excellent customer service while retaining our family business ethos,” Annemarie Rhodes, BGM’s managing director said.

“We are confident that Duplo will continue these aims, and we are excited for the opportunities ahead.”

Meanwhile, a new managing director for BGM is slated to be appointed in the near future.

By integrating BGM’s specialized equipment, Duplo aims to streamline workflows and reduce waste in label and packaging production, supporting the industry’s shift toward eco-friendly practices.

A report by Packaging News indicates that the global labels market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.4% through 2030, driven by demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

Duplo’s investment in BGM positions it to capitalize on this trend, offering advanced finishing technologies that cater to eco-conscious brands and print service providers.
