SOUTH AFRICA – Enstra Paper, a member of the Corruseal Group, has enlisted Voith to rebuild its PM 6 machine for packaging paper in Springs, near Johannesburg.
Voith will supply a new BlueLine OCC stock preparation line to improve efficiency, runability, and paper quality.
Once installed, the BlueLine system is designed to improve the operability, efficiency, and quality of recycled paper produced at Enstra.
Deployment of Voith’s proven BlueLine technology is also aligned with Enstra’s broader objective to conserve resources, improve fiber yield, and become energy efficiency.
The leading full-line supplier will also undertake substantial rebuilding measures on the existing paper machine that was converted from newsprint to packaging papers in 2015.
Rajiv Mehta, Joint CEO at Corruseal Group, said, “Enstra Paper’s new production line 6 will significantly improve our competitiveness, cost efficiency, and product quality.
“The partnership with Voith is the next significant investment for the future of our company.”
Nic Campher, Head of Paper at Enstra Paper, added, “With Voith, we have found a partner dedicated to long-term collaboration while also providing the most advanced solutions in the industry.
“We have been impressed by Voith’s flexibility and its commitment to project budget and deadlines.”
The forming section of the machine will be equipped with DuoFormer D and Voith’s DuoShake DG shaking unit to optimize sheet formation.
Voith Paper Spain’s managing director, Marcos Garcia de la Torre, added, “This order is further evidence of how we utilize our extensive expertise as a leading full-line supplier to assist customers in significantly enhancing the competitiveness of their current process lines and achieving a higher level of sustainable and efficient paper quality.”
Additional components to be installed by Voith at Enstra’s facility include the IntensaPulper, IntensaMaXX for pulper cleaning, IntensaScreenDrum for reject washing, and other screening and fractionation products.
Voith is also making modifications to its dryer section in order to enhance paper quality and energy efficiency.
Meanwhile, in September, Voith partnered with Graphic Packaging to supply them with multiple stock preparation lines, integrated reject handling, and a wastewater pre-treatment system for their newest, most advanced coated recycled board (CRB) mill being built in Waco, TX.
With Voith’s customized process solutions, GPI is expected to improve the efficiency and sustainability of its facility, ultimately resulting in energy, water, and fiber savings. The installation of the new system and components is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
