This partnership ensures continuity, availability, and technical excellence for printers throughout Southern Africa.

SOUTH AFRICA – In a strategic move aimed at reinforcing its footprint in the Southern African market, Flint Group has appointed Thunderbolt Offset Printing as the exclusive distributor for its offset packaging portfolio across South Africa and neighboring countries.
The partnership, announced this week, marks a significant milestone in Flint Group’s regional strategy, promising improved product availability, technical support, and service delivery to printers in the commercial and packaging sectors.
It also underscores the group’s commitment to investing in high-potential markets across Africa.
Founded in 1999, Thunderbolt has built a strong reputation for supplying cutting-edge printing technology and consumables.
The Johannesburg-based firm has been instrumental in supporting the region’s print industry during times of both growth and challenge.
Its extensive reach and longstanding client relationships make it an ideal partner for Flint Group as it seeks to expand its presence in a dynamic and competitive market.
“We are excited about this new chapter and confident that our customers will continue to receive the highest standards of service and product excellence,” said Heiner Klokkers, CEO and President of Flint Group Packaging Inks Europe.
“Thunderbolt’s proven track record and customer-centric mindset make them the ideal partner to drive growth and innovation in the offset segment across Southern Africa.”
The agreement covers distribution of key Flint Group brands including Day, Varn, and K+E, which are known for their performance in offset printing applications.
These products will now be backed by Thunderbolt’s technical team, offering localized support, training, and consultation for printers.
Gerry Baker, CEO of Thunderbolt, welcomed the partnership, stating, “We are delighted that Flint Group has selected us to introduce a dynamic new route to the Southern African market.
“Our complementary portfolios and overlapping customer bases make this collaboration a natural fit. We believe this partnership will deliver mutual value to Flint Group and the printing community in the region.”
The deal also aligns with broader industry trends, as African print and packaging companies increasingly seek partners that offer both high-performance products and responsive technical support.
The collaboration is expected to boost resilience and competitiveness for local printers amid rising demand for quality packaging, especially in sectors like FMCG, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals.
By leveraging Thunderbolt’s established distribution network, Flint Group aims to deliver consistent supply and technical excellence, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Africa’s growing print and packaging industry.
