Goglio acquires Cristal Embalagens to strengthen flexible packaging business in Brazil

Acquisition expands Goglio’s manufacturing footprint and product portfolio as demand for flexible packaging grows across Latin America.

BRAZIL – Italian flexible packaging systems provider Goglio has expanded its presence in South America through the acquisition of Cristal Embalagens.

Cristal Embalagens is a Brazilian flexible packaging manufacturer, in a move aimed at strengthening its position in one of Latin America’s fastest-growing packaging markets.

The acquisition, completed through Goglio’s Brazilian subsidiary Mega Goglio, brings Cristal Embalagens’ manufacturing operations in Morro da Fumaça, Santa Catarina, into the group’s portfolio, enhancing its production capabilities and customer reach across Brazil.

According to Goglio, the transaction combines the complementary expertise and production assets of both companies, enabling the group to deliver a broader range of flexible packaging solutions to customers in the region.

“This operation enhances our ability to deliver increasingly comprehensive and innovative solutions while effectively responding to the needs of a constantly evolving market,” the company said in a statement.

“The acquisition represents an important milestone in the group’s growth journey, strengthening its international position and reaffirming its commitment to creating value through industrial excellence, innovation, and closer collaboration with customers and business partners.”

Cristal Embalagens manufactures flexible packaging for a diverse range of industries, including food, baby food, pet food and feminine care products.

The addition of these capabilities is expected to broaden Goglio’s offering while reinforcing its presence in key consumer goods sectors.

Cristal Embalagens said the integration would create new opportunities for innovation and long-term growth while maintaining its customer-focused approach.

“We continue with what has always been at the heart of our performance: relationships of trust, proximity and excellence in everything we do. This union strengthens our ability to innovate, invest and grow alongside customers, employees and partners,” the company said.

Goglio added that it will continue investing in advanced manufacturing technologies, product quality and environmental sustainability as part of its long-term strategy in Brazil.

The acquisition comes as Latin America’s flexible packaging sector continues to expand, driven by rising demand from the food, beverage, personal care and pet food industries.

At the same time, manufacturers are investing in new technologies and sustainable materials to comply with evolving environmental regulations and meet brand owners’ circular economy commitments.

Industry analysts note that consolidation is becoming increasingly common across the regional packaging industry as companies seek greater production capacity, broader product portfolios and stronger local supply chains.

Recent studies have shown that while several Latin American countries have introduced policies promoting plastic circularity and extended producer responsibility, plastic production and consumption continue to grow faster than recycling infrastructure.

Brazil remains one of the region’s most advanced packaging markets, with several states implementing restrictions on single-use plastics and encouraging investments in recyclable and circular packaging solutions.

The latest acquisition positions Goglio to capitalize on these market trends while strengthening its ability to serve multinational and regional consumer goods companies seeking innovative and sustainable flexible packaging solutions across Brazil and the wider Latin American market.
