Henkel set to launch redesigned sustainable packaging for pritt glue sticks in Europe from 2026

This new packaging complements the improved formula, which includes up to 65% recycled plastic in the stick and 97% natural ingredients.

EUROPE – Henkel plans to introduce updated packaging for its Pritt glue sticks in European markets starting early next year.

The changes target improvements in how consumers handle the product both in stores and at home.

As a major player in adhesives and functional coatings, Henkel first shifted the Pritt line to plastic-free cardboard blisters in 2022, becoming the first company in the consumer adhesives category to do so.

The new design features a front viewing window that lets shoppers see and feel the glue stick prior to buying.

It also includes full-size product images, color coding for variants, and a navigation bubble to simplify selection among options.

These elements aim to make in-store choices quicker and more intuitive.

Digital enhancements appear on the refreshed blister cards through QR codes linking to educational and crafting resources on the Pritt World website.

The packaging uses Forest Stewardship Council-certified cardboard, with the back printed in black and white to cut down on environmental effects from color inks.

Pritt glue sticks already feature 97% natural ingredients, such as water, and casings with up to 65% recycled plastic.

According to Henkel, these updates build on the 2022 switch to refine the overall approach.

Baptiste Chieze, Henkel’s marketing director for digital and e-commerce in consumer adhesives, said in a statement: “For more than 50 years, Pritt has led in sustainable innovation, keeping the needs of children and parents at its center.”

He added that the packaging concept seeks to enhance the consumer experience in today’s market.

In a related development, Henkel opened its Packaging RecycLab in Shanghai this October.

The facility tests adhesive technologies to aid recycling processes and advance circular economy goals in packaging.

A report by industry observers notes this lab will evaluate solutions for better material recovery across global supply chains.

Earlier this year, Henkel released a solvent-free adhesive tailored for sustainable packaging applications.

This product reduces carbon emissions during production while maintaining food safety standards, expanding the company’s options for eco-conscious brands.

Henkel also unveiled phthalate-free sealants in August for metal packaging, offering resistance to solvents and heat for longer-lasting containers.

The redesign will debut in Pritt’s annual back-to-school campaign under the “Magical World” theme from spring 2026.

This promotion will highlight the updated interaction features to families during peak shopping periods.

These steps show Henkel’s ongoing work in sustainable materials. The company continues to explore adhesives that support recyclability, as seen in its recent Shanghai initiative and new product launches.
