Intertek joins CEFLEX to support circularity in flexible packaging in Europe

EUROPE – British multinational assurance, inspection, product testing and certification company, Intertek has joined Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging (CEFLEX) to help build the circular economy for flexible packaging in Europe.

CEFLEX is a collaboration of over 180 European companies, associations, and organizations bringing together the entire value chain of flexible packaging to tackle the complex technical and business barriers to a circular economy.

CEFLEX has an established roadmap and targets to achieve a circular economy for flexible packaging and increase recycling efforts across the EU.

The consortium’s goals include establishing guidelines on packaging design, driving collection and sorting of flexible packaging materials, and the identification of sustainable end markets for their downstream use.

For the last two decades, Intertek’s scientists have supported plastics and polymers companies to optimize the value of recycled materials whilst ensuring their quality and safety.

Building on this commitment to creating a circular economy for plastics and polymers, Intertek launched CircularAssure earlier this year.

This innovative program of assurance, testing, and certification services can be applied across the recycled plastic value chain to help each stakeholder ensure flexible packaging flows back into the economy, reducing raw material dependence and ensuring the quality and safety of products.

Intertek’s polymer and plastics laboratories also help the global chemical and polymer sectors to navigate the challenges of product development, regulatory authorization, and production through analytical testing, laboratory services, auditing, training, and assurance services.
