USA – Robotic packaging systems producer JLS has acquired packaging company K2 Kinetics, a long-time partner near its Pennsylvania headquarters.

With this acquisition, K2’s full line of palletizers, as well as its cost-effective TL case packer and carton loaders, will now become part of JLS’s offerings.

This will allow JLS, which designs and manufactures robotic primary and secondary packaging machinery, to expand its services to include palletizing.

As many companies look to suppliers to provide full-line solutions, this will provide more flexible solutions for JLS’s customers.

Craig Souser, president and CEO of JLS in a press release said: “To see our partnership with K2 grow into an acquisition has been humbling.

“Our close relationship with and proximity to them has made this move a good fit for all involved, including our customers.”

K2’s team will now become part of JLS, with Kevin Keller, formerly Managing Director at K2, acting as Director of End of Line Solutions. Palletizing and full-line integration will be housed in JLS’s newly expanded production facility.

Kevin Keller said: “After working with the team at JLS for the past several years, it’s clear that K2 and its product lines are in good hands. We look forward to being part of this next phase of JLS’s growth.”

Founded in 2011, K2 Kinetics offers palletizing, packing, cartooning, case packing, conveying, quality assurance and filling solutions.

Meanwhile, in January this year, JLS promoted Craig Hafner to chief technology officer and Craig Wolfe to a chief operating officer.

In his new role, Mr. Hafner, who has been with the company for more than 20 years, will work to further develop new technologies to drive innovation at JLS. He specializes in machine design, robotics and project management.

Mr. Wolfe will oversee managing day-to-day business operations and lead the company through growth opportunities.

He has extensive experience in manufacturing leadership, including operations management, lean continuous improvement, maintenance, customer service and fabrication.

“Their proven individual dedication to JLS and our customers combined with their shared ability to work collaboratively in these new roles will help pave the way for JLS’ continued growth,” said Craig Souser, president and chief executive officer.
