Enhanced alliance enables converters to produce premium metallic labels in a single press pass without foiling or additional finishing.

UK – Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) has strengthened its partnership with Color-Logic to bring advanced metallic and decorative printing capabilities to the label industry, enabling converters to produce premium labels with greater efficiency using the AccurioLabel 400 digital press.
The expanded collaboration allows label converters and commercial printers to create metallic labels on silver substrates using the press’s white toner technology, eliminating the need for conventional post-press foiling or specialist finishing processes.
The latest enhancement builds on Konica Minolta’s earlier integration of Color-Logic’s design and embellishment software for cut-sheet digital printing and extends the technology to the growing digital label market.
According to the companies, the system can generate up to 924 metallic colours, including 50 shades of gold, by combining white toner with metallic label stocks.
The approach delivers premium visual effects in a single production pass while reducing production time and simplifying workflow.
The solution also incorporates Color-Logic’s software suite, supplied with a lifetime licence, enabling designers to create metallic and decorative effects directly within Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
The workflow removes the need for complex masking and manual colour manipulation while providing a structured metallic colour library and visualization tools that allow embellishments to be previewed before printing.
By enabling accurate digital proofing, the software helps improve brand consistency and reduce material waste associated with trial-and-error production.
Konica Minolta said the technology is particularly well suited to prime labels, short-run packaging, versioned products, collectibles, limited-edition packaging and other applications where premium decoration enhances product differentiation.
The companies believe the ability to produce metallic effects inline without additional finishing makes the solution especially attractive for short-run, high-value label production.
“Anything printed on a silver label stock can be transformed into premium metallic effects, with predictable results and faster time to market,” said Mark Geeves, Co-founder and Sales and Marketing Director at Color-Logic.
“It’s all done in one pass of the press, there’s no need for post finishing, and designers can visualise the effects before going to press.”
Malcolm Smith, Professional Print Category Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK), added that the expanded partnership delivers practical value for label producers seeking to enhance product presentation.
“Our partnership with Color-Logic continues to evolve in ways that deliver real, practical value for customers. By extending these capabilities to the label market, we’re helping converters and commercial printers unlock premium metallic effects with exceptional simplicity.”
The announcement reflects the growing adoption of digital label printing technologies as brands increasingly demand shorter production runs, faster turnaround times and greater packaging customization.
Inline embellishment technologies are becoming an important competitive advantage, enabling converters to deliver premium visual effects while reducing production complexity, minimizing waste and improving operational efficiency in an increasingly dynamic packaging market.
