Cyprus-based investment strengthens presence in fibre-based packaging as demand rises for sustainable paper solutions.

CYPRUS – Lordos United Public Ltd has signed an agreement to acquire a 51% stake in P&S Carton Industries Ltd, marking its strategic entry into the paper packaging industry and expanding its manufacturing portfolio in line with growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
The acquisition gives Lordos United a controlling interest in Cyprus’ only manufacturer of cardboard boxes and forms part of the company’s long-term strategy to diversify into high-growth industrial sectors.
According to the company, the investment reflects the vision of its new management team to strengthen its presence in industries with strong growth potential while capitalizing on increasing demand for recyclable fibre-based packaging.
The move comes as tightening environmental regulations, rapid growth in e-commerce and changing consumer preferences continue to accelerate the shift from plastic to renewable and recyclable paper packaging across global markets.
Lordos United expects the partnership to generate operational and commercial synergies by combining the expertise and resources of both companies.
The collaboration is expected to enhance manufacturing efficiency, strengthen production capabilities and accelerate the development of innovative packaging solutions for customers in Cyprus and export markets.
The companies also plan to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies, product innovation and sustainable packaging solutions to improve competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic market.
P&S Carton Industries has built a strong position in Cyprus’ packaging sector as the country’s only cardboard box manufacturer, supplying paper packaging products to food and beverage, pharmaceutical, retail, agricultural and industrial customers.
The company has established a reputation for customized packaging solutions supported by continuous investment in modern production equipment.
Under the new ownership structure, P&S Carton Industries is expected to benefit from additional financial resources and strategic support that will enable it to expand manufacturing capacity, broaden its product portfolio and pursue new opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
The transaction reflects a broader consolidation trend across the global packaging industry, where companies are increasingly pursuing acquisitions and strategic partnerships to expand capabilities, improve economies of scale and strengthen market competitiveness.
Recent years have seen significant investment in fibre-based packaging as manufacturers respond to growing regulatory and consumer demand for sustainable alternatives to conventional plastic packaging.
Across Europe, paper and corrugated packaging producers are expanding capacity, investing in automation and developing recyclable packaging formats to support circular economy objectives.
Industry analysts expect demand for paper-based packaging to continue rising as brand owners accelerate efforts to reduce plastic use and meet ambitious sustainability targets.
Against this backdrop, Lordos United’s investment positions the company to participate in one of the packaging sector’s fastest-growing segments while supporting the continued development of Cyprus’ manufacturing industry.
The company said the acquisition underscores its commitment to building a diversified business portfolio and creating long-term value through strategic investments in industries aligned with evolving regional and global market needs.
