US – The Middleby Corporation has completed the acquisition of manufacturer of advanced high-speed vacuum packaging equipment, CP Packaging as it expands its operations in the US.
The acquisition expands Middleby’s manufacturing operations in the Food Processing Equipment Group by boosting packaging equipment offerings.
The buyout also enhances the company’s ability to provide customers with integrated full-line solutions.
Middleby CEO Tim FitzGerald said: “CP Packaging is a leading innovator of horizontal form-fill and seals thermoforming equipment. The CP Packaging systems provide customers with industry-leading sanitation, faster production throughput and reduced operating costs.
“There are meaningful synergies amongst our packaging brands and our food processing platform, as we leverage our long-standing customer relationships, established global distribution and manufacturing capabilities.”
The company develops and manufactures a wide range of solutions for various markets, including commercial food service, food processing and residential kitchens.
It owns and operates Middleby Innovation Kitchens, a shared-use commercial kitchen that exhibits and demonstrates Middleby’s latest solutions.
Meanwhile, CP Packaging provides technological solutions for the packaging industry with a special focus on the food industry.
The company developed the VisionPak HFFS machine and was the first in the industry to use advanced adhesive technology to build machine frames.
The firm expanded its VisionPak by offering various models, including VP125 and VP190, over the past decade. It also introduced the mid-range VP110-CS to the market in 2016.
In addition, the company claims to have pioneered the patented use of belts to transport film through the machine instead of traditional chains.
CP Packaging aims to offer ‘state-of-the-art’ equipment that meets customers’ needs while adhering to ‘world-class’ safety and sanitation standards. The company registers annual sales of approximately $15m.
The acquisition of CP Packaging follows Middleby’s recent takeover of Icetro, a commercial food service equipment manufacturer, expanding its portfolio of beverage brands.
The buyout expands MIDD’s (Middleby) Asian manufacturing capabilities and provides solutions to support customers expanding in international markets.
Last month, the company acquired Proxaut, a provider of Auto Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to industrial processing companies and the food industry, strengthening its product offerings in the food processing end market.
In addition, the firm carried out a series of acquisitions last year as well, namely, Masterbuilt Holdings and Char-Griller, Imperial Commercial Cooking Equipment, and Novy. Acquired assets boosted the company’s sales by 20.7% in the first quarter of 2022.
Earlier this year, Middleby received a World’s Best Employer award from Forbes and is a proud philanthropic partner to organizations addressing food insecurity.
