Mumbai to host ‘world’s largest’ flexible packaging summit in September 2025

The organizers, ElitePlus++, has introduced a customized digital scheduler to facilitate pre-arranged B2B meetings between participants.

INDIA – Mumbai is set to become the global hub for packaging innovation when the 12th Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit & Expo 2025 takes place on 3–4 September at the Reliance Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex.

Organized by ElitePlus++ Business Services and supported by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, the flagship event is billed as the world’s biggest conference dedicated to films and flexible packaging.

More than 2,200 delegates from over 23 countries are expected, including leaders in flexible and rigid packaging, recyclers, converters, raw material and additive suppliers, technology providers, and policymakers.

As of mid-August, organizers confirmed over 1,800 delegates representing 590 organizations had already registered, with 125 exhibitors preparing to showcase cutting-edge solutions and technologies.

The summit will feature keynote addresses from industry heavyweights including Godrej Industries, Alliance to End Plastic Waste, Reliance Consumer Products, Amul (GCMMF), Marico, and the DCPC. Global perspectives will also come from PepsiCo, Nestlé, and McKinsey.

A special keynote by Siddhartha Sanyal, Chief Economist at Bandhan Bank, will explore how geopolitics, tariff wars, and regional trade pacts are shaping strategies across the plastics and packaging value chain.

Sustainability and policy focus

The event comes shortly after the UN plastics treaty negotiations (INC-5.2) in Geneva. Dedicated sessions will unpack the policy outcomes, providing actionable guidance for India’s packaging ecosystem.

Sustainability will be a key theme, with discussions on advanced recycling technologies, post-consumer recycled (PCR) integration, regulatory compliance, and supply chain traceability.

A particular focus will be on the role of recyclers and waste processors in helping India meet its recycled content mandates.

More than 85 business presentations will cover topics such as hybrid packaging formats, recyclable mono-materials, coatings, adhesives, and digital packaging powered by AI and data analytics.

Emerging applications in EVs, solar, e-commerce, FMCG, and healthcare will also take center stage.

High-level panel discussions will debate innovations in raw materials, the “new normal” for brand owners, start-up financing, and strategies for plastics circularity.

Networking and industry impact

With 2,200 delegates and 800 organizations participating, the summit is set to be a landmark networking platform, enhanced by a digital B2B meeting scheduler. Social highlights include a gala dinner, cocktail reception, and interactive sessions.

The event will also act as a curtain-raiser for K 2025 in Düsseldorf, offering delegates an early look at breakthrough packaging technologies before their global debut.
