Portrait Capital forms specialty label platform with acquisitions

The partnership reflects Portrait Capital’s mission of honoring the legacy of exceptional family businesses while supporting leadership to unlock their full potential.

USA – Portrait Capital, a private investment firm, has acquired AAi Labels & Decals and Sticker Ranch, merging the two to establish a new specialty label platform.

The combined company, now led by Lynn Higgs, founder of Sticker Ranch, aims to deliver innovative label solutions across North America.

AAi, founded in 1969 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, has built a strong reputation as a provider of durable labels and decals for compliance, safety, and branding needs.

Sticker Ranch, co-founded by Higgs and Joseph Thomas, brings digital-first, web-to-print capabilities that enhance AAi’s offerings and open doors to consumer label markets.

“We’re excited to combine AAi’s trusted legacy with our digital expertise to better serve customers,” Higgs said in a statement.

According to Portrait Capital’s managing partner, Justin Burris, the acquisition targets businesses with strong customer ties and consistent demand.

He noted that AAi’s decades-long commitment to quality and service makes it an ideal foundation for growth.

Stacy and Gary Gestring, who have managed AAi since 1998, will step back from daily operations but continue supporting the company during the transition.

The new platform plans to pursue strategic acquisitions, starting with Sticker Ranch, to expand its reach in the fragmented label market.

Meanwhile, the Middle East is increasingly focused on eco-friendly packaging, with companies investing in recyclable and biodegradable labels to meet regulatory and consumer demands.

Under Higgs’ leadership, the company will prioritize customer service while integrating advanced digital tools to streamline production.

The acquisition leverages AAi’s established client base and Sticker Ranch’s modern technology to create a versatile platform capable of meeting diverse market needs.

Portrait Capital’s investment supports the company’s vision of becoming a leading provider of labels and decals across North America.
