UGANDA – Skanem Africa, a label manufacturer, recently inaugurated a new warehouse in Uganda’s Namanve Industrial Park in Mukono District.
The company says this warehouse, equipped with office spaces and ample storage for finished goods, marks a significant milestone in Skanem’s five-year presence in Uganda.
While the company has maintained a sales presence, this new facility enhances its ability to serve local and regional clients with improved lead times and services.
Skanem’s top leadership, including Group CEO Maryne Lemvik, Managing Director Sachen Gudka, and Head of Sales Uganda Olive Kunihira, attended the inauguration ceremony.
The move highlights Skanem’s goal to boost efficiency and customer satisfaction in the region, contributing to the broader industrialization agenda in Uganda and East Africa.
Namanve Industrial Park, where the warehouse is situated, is a strategic hub for manufacturing and logistics in Uganda.
The park has been a key driver of industrial growth, housing over 70 operational industries that employ more than 30,000 Ugandans.
Companies in the park are involved in diverse sectors, including agro-processing, packaging, and electronics, contributing to Uganda’s expanding industrial capacity.
In addition to Uganda, Skanem Africa has been making strides in Kenya and Tanzania. In Kenya, Skanem operates a label production plant in Nairobi, servicing industries such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and personal care.
The company strategically relocated its operations to Limuru to optimize production capabilities and expand its market reach in Kenya.
This relocation is part of Skanem’s broader strategy to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and better serve its diverse clientele across food, personal care, home care, and automotive industries.
The company said, “All our machinery has been successfully moved to our brand-new, cutting-edge factory in Tilisi, Limuru. This move was accomplished in just one month.”
Skanem’s decision to relocate is a significant step toward reinforcing its presence in the East African market.
Having operated in Kenya for several years, the company intends to leverage this new base to meet the growing demand for high-quality labeling solutions in the region.
Meanwhile, the company has established a foothold in Tanzania, supporting the country’s growing need for high-quality labeling solutions.
This expansion aligns with the broader trend of increasing investments in East Africa, where countries like Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania are enhancing their industrial infrastructures to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI).
The opening of the Ugandan warehouse reinforces Skanem Africa’s commitment to East Africa’s growing markets, supporting industries with cutting-edge labeling technology and logistics solutions.
By leveraging strategic locations like Namanve, the company can better serve customers across the region, optimizing supply chains and driving economic development.
