VIETNAM – Singapore-based Tetra Pak South East Asia has inked a deal with Austrian technology group Andritz for the supply of a new system for recycling Used Beverage Cartons (UBC) to be installed at a Vietnamese paper mill.
The new recycling line will be installed at the Dong Tien Binh Duong Paper facility in Ben Cat Town, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.
According to the Austria-based technology firm, the recycling system is expected to start operation this summer.
The latest stock preparation line will consist of two new products of Andritz, the PrimeFFD BT pulper and the PrimeClean TO. Both belong to Andritz’s Prime product line.
Part of the FibreFlow drum pulper series, the PrimeFFD BT pulper can process 50 tonnes of alternative raw material per day.
The drum pulper will work in batch mode to transform UBC into fibers while separating and rejecting poly-aluminium components used in the production of corrugated roofing sheets.
The PrimeClean TO (Two-in-One) cleaner is said to combine two cleaning stages in one unit and separate fibers and contaminants with increased efficiency and less energy input.
Dong Tien Binh Duong Paper general manager Hoang Trung Son said: “We already have a UBC recycling line from Andritz, which is operating very successfully.
“Andritz is a highly valued long-term partner since 2007 and we are expecting once more top performance!”
Dong Tien Binh Duong Paper is part of Dong Tien Packaging and Paper, a wastepaper recycling company in Vietnam.
Tetra Pak and Don Tien have partnered since 2011 for the collection and recycling of beverage cartons.

Last month, Melbourne-based paper, packaging and recycling company, Visy installed ANDRITZ FibreFlow Drum pulping system in Australia to optimize operations.
The innovative ANDRITZ drum pulping system enables Visy Paper to process a demanding special raw material mix consisting of household wastepaper and Australian OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) with a rejected content of up to 25%.
The drum pulper features FibreFlow Drum with a longer and reinforced design to ensure gentle pulping of the demanding raw material mix and efficient removal of coarse contaminants at minimum fiber loss, noted Visy.
