Debbiche has spent 22 years at Tetra Pak.

WEST AFRICA – Swedish multinational food packaging and processing company Tetra Pak has appointed Haithem Debbiche as Managing Director for the Maghreb and West Africa region, expanding his current role in West Africa to include the Maghreb.

The announcement was made in an official statement by the company.

“With a strong background in leadership and business development, Haithem will lead our continued efforts to drive growth, strengthen our partnerships, and deliver sustainable value across the region,” the statement read.

Debbiche, who has been Managing Director for West Africa since 2024, succeeds Laurent Rodier in the Maghreb region.

In his new position, he will oversee Tetra Pak’s operations and strategy across both regions, ensuring alignment with the company’s global mission to provide innovative, safe, and sustainable food solutions.

A graduate of Paris-Sorbonne University, Debbiche has spent 22 years at Tetra Pak, holding several senior positions and contributing significantly to the company’s growth and partnerships across Africa.

With nearly two decades of experience in the Maghreb, he brings in-depth knowledge of regional markets and consumer needs.

“I am honored by this nomination and happy to reconnect with our partners and teams in the Maghreb. The Maghreb and West Africa represent markets with strong potential,” Debbiche said.

He emphasized that his priorities include developing innovative food solutions and supporting partners to meet both current consumer demands and the evolving products of tomorrow.

Debbiche added, “Thanks to Tetra Pak’s global expertise and the dedication of our teams, we will keep working with our partners to meet consumers’ needs today and to prepare for the products of tomorrow.”

Tetra Pak has been a global leader in food processing and packaging solutions for more than 70 years, providing equipment, processing technologies, and packaging systems to clients worldwide.

The company continues to focus on sustainability, digitalization, and innovation as it expands its footprint across high-growth African markets.

Meanwhile, the company  teamed up with supermarket chain Mega Image to start an eight-month pilot program in Bucharest and Brașov, Romania, aimed at collecting used beverage and dairy cartons via reverse vending machines.

The effort, which launched this month, marks the first major European push dedicated solely to recovering carton packaging for soft drinks and dairy items.

Under the program, Tetra Pak commits to accepting every beverage and dairy carton sold in Romania, no matter the brand or producer.
