BRAZIL – Vitopel, a prominent manufacturer specializing in biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) solutions, has recently made a significant investment in BOBST’s EXPERT K5 2450mm metallizer.
This move by Vitopel reflects its commitment to meeting market demands for more sustainable substrates with enhanced barriers, ultimately extending product shelf life.
The adoption of the EXPERT K5 with AluBond technology is a pivotal aspect of Vitopel’s ongoing efforts to modernize its manufacturing facilities, slated for completion by 2025.
Osvaldo Coltri, CEO of Vitopel, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing high-value films by incorporating the BOBST EXPERT K5 metallizer into its operations.
Coltri stated, “This state-of-the-art equipment underscores Vitopel’s commitment to delivering top-quality films with unique attributes.”
He also noted that the addition of this new equipment will increase production by 600 tons per month, facilitating prompt delivery for customers and bolstering exports to Latin America and North America.
AluBond technology significantly enhances metal adhesion on commonly used substrates, achieving metal adhesion values of up to 5N/15mm.
When applied to BOPP films, AluBond not only improves metal adhesion but also enhances oxygen (OTR) and water vapor (WVTR) barrier performance.
This innovation responds to market demands for sustainable packaging films, particularly in the production of high barrier metallized mono-material laminates.
Eduardo Petroni, General Manager of BOBST in Brazil, expressed pride in BOBST’s longstanding commitment to advancing the packaging industry globally and in Brazil.
Petroni highlighted the significance of BOBST’s collaboration with Vitopel, a leading player in the sector.
He affirmed BOBST’s dedication to providing not only cutting-edge technology but also comprehensive training to enable Vitopel to deliver even greater quality and innovation to its customers.
Meanwhile, last month, Boxshop, a manufacturer specializing in corrugated boxes and packaging, made a strategic investment in a cutting-edge BOBST Expertflex NT flexographic printing press.
This investment aims to elevate the company’s printing capabilities and introduce novel features to its business operations and broader group.
For over three decades, Boxshop has been renowned for providing tailored corrugated boxes and display packaging across diverse market sectors, including the packaging industry itself. Since 2016, Boxshop has been an integral part of the Logson Group.
