West Pharmaceutical introduces nested format for Daikyo PLASCAP RUV closures

USA – West Pharmaceutical Services, a leading provider of injectable solutions, has unveiled an updated nested format for its Daikyo PLASCAP ready-to-use validated (RUV) closures.

The PLASCAP closure, made from polypropylene (PP), is metal-free and features an integrated stopper. Designed as a one-step press-fit solution, it is available in RUV formats and compatible with vials featuring 13mm and 20mm crowns.

The new nested tub configuration is optimized for West’s 10ml nested CZ vials and other selected nested vials with a 20mm crown.

This innovation underscores West’s commitment to addressing the evolving demands of advanced therapies, including cell and gene therapy treatments.

The company showcased the product in various configurations at this year’s Pharmapack event in Paris, highlighting its role in meeting stringent regulatory requirements for advanced therapy molecules.

Stacey Vaughan, West’s Vice President of Strategic Portfolio Management, emphasized the company’s leadership in pharmaceutical packaging, “West has been at the forefront of pharmaceutical packaging for over 100 years.

“Our solutions support the majority of gene and viral therapies on the market. The new nested format for PLASCAP closures meets the complex challenges of advanced therapy containment while complying with rising regulatory demands.”

West supplies approximately 43 billion components and devices annually, supported by over 10,000 team members across 50 global sites.

Ardagh Glass Packaging expands heritage bottle portfolio

In related packaging news, Ardagh Glass Packaging-North America introduced new color and closure options for its 12oz (355ml) Heritage glass beer bottle range.

The updated portfolio now features two new 12oz (355ml) Heritage glass beer bottle options.

One option is made from flint (clear) glass and designed with a pry-off closure. It provides a clean and classic appearance that allows the product inside to be prominently displayed.

The second addition is an amber (brown) glass bottle with a twist-off closure. This design not only offers convenience for consumers but also provides enhanced protection against light, preserving the quality and flavor of the beverages.

These new options expand the versatility of the Heritage bottle range, catering to diverse branding and functional needs for craft beverage producers.

Rashmi Markan, Chief Commercial Officer for AGP-North America, highlighted the design enhancements, “The new 12oz Heritage bottles deliver a nostalgic look with a wider label area for design flexibility, all in a shorter, lightweight container compared to traditional long-neck bottles.”

Craft beverage producers can purchase the expanded Heritage bottle collection in less-than-truckload (LTL) or full-truckload quantities. This reinforces Ardagh’s dedication to providing distinctive glass packaging solutions for the craft beverage market.
