New facility in Sonora strengthens services for growers and packers across northern Mexico.

MEXICO – Functional packaging specialist StePacPPC has opened a new regional office in Hermosillo, expanding its footprint in the country’s fast-growing fresh produce sector.
The facility, which began operations in November 2025, is designed to serve growers and packers in key agricultural regions including Sonora, Sinaloa, Durango, and Chihuahua.
The move forms part of the company’s strategy to strengthen local support and improve supply chain efficiency for customers in the Latin American produce industry.
To lead the operation, the company has appointed Daniel Peña as Sales Manager for Produce Mexico. Peña brings more than 13 years of experience in agribusiness, having previously held management positions at Aliansa and Agrofesa.
“I am extremely thankful for the opportunity,” Peña said. “I am glad to have chosen StePacPPC to continue my career, and I look forward to growing and consolidating business across Mexico and beyond.”
The Hermosillo office will provide a full range of services including sales, customer support, technical assistance, logistics coordination, and local billing and collections for regional produce exporters and packers.
To improve delivery times, the facility will maintain local inventory of packaging products such as bulk bags, clear BOPP roll stock, stock retail bags, and PAZ zipper pouches.
According to the company, this setup enables same-day shipments within Sonora and next-day delivery to neighbouring Sinaloa, reducing transport times and costs.
The localized supply model is also expected to help customers avoid cross-border tariffs and streamline procurement processes.
“Speed to market is key for us in LATAM, and this is a step in the right direction,” said Joe Bradford, Vice President of Sales for Produce at PPC Flexible Packaging, StePacPPC’s parent company.
“StePacPPC is committed to long-term investment in Latin America through local teams, inventory and service, helping customers operate more efficiently and competitively.”
Growing investment in Mexico’s packaging sector
The expansion comes amid increasing investment by multinational packaging companies in Mexico, particularly in sectors linked to food production and export.
For example, packaging and recycling company ALPLA recently launched a plastic recycling initiative in Mexico City in partnership with Vida Circular, aiming to recover more than 200,000 plastic bottles annually.
The program focuses on building practical recycling infrastructure and improving community participation in plastic waste collection and separation.
Industry observers say developments like StePacPPC’s new office highlight the growing importance of localized packaging supply networks in supporting Mexico’s agricultural exports and strengthening regional packaging ecosystems.
