ProAmpac completes US$1.5B acquisition of TC Transcontinental Packaging

Deal strengthens global flexible packaging capabilities and innovation pipeline.

USA – Flexible packaging manufacturer ProAmpac has completed its US$1.51 billion acquisition of TC Transcontinental Packaging (TCP) from Canadian media and printing company TC Transcontinental, marking a major consolidation move in the global packaging sector.

The transaction, initially announced in December 2025, brings TCP’s extensive manufacturing network and technical capabilities into ProAmpac’s portfolio.

TCP operates 25 production facilities and employs around 3,500 people, offering services including extrusion, printing, lamination, converting and recycling.

The company supplies flexible packaging solutions across multiple industries, including agriculture, beverages, dairy, meat and pet food.

According to Isabelle Marcoux, Executive Chair of TC Transcontinental’s Board, the divestment represents a strategic shift for the Canadian company.

“The closing of the sale of our Packaging business represents a key milestone for TC Transcontinental,” she said.

“This transaction allows us to focus our resources on our retail services, printing and educational publishing activities.”

Expanding ProAmpac’s global packaging capabilities

For ProAmpac, the acquisition significantly strengthens its global manufacturing footprint and technology base. By integrating TCP’s capabilities, the company aims to accelerate innovation in high-performance and sustainable packaging solutions.

The combined organization will leverage complementary strengths, particularly in material science, flexible packaging conversion and advanced film technologies.

“This marks an exciting new chapter for ProAmpac,” said Greg Tucker, Founder, Vice Chairman and CEO of ProAmpac.

“By integrating TCP’s advanced packaging technologies and talented team into our operations, we are combining complementary strengths to accelerate the delivery of high-performance, increasingly sustainable packaging solutions.”

ProAmpac indicated that the acquisition will support the development of next-generation packaging formats, including high-barrier films, mono-material recyclable structures and fibre-based packaging alternatives.

The addition of TCP’s protein packaging operations also expands ProAmpac’s expertise in specialized food packaging applications, providing access to new technologies and customers within the global protein supply chain.

Industry analysts note that mergers and acquisitions continue to reshape the packaging sector as companies seek to scale operations, expand technological capabilities and respond to growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

The integration of TCP’s operations is expected to strengthen ProAmpac’s position as a global supplier of flexible packaging, enabling the company to better serve multinational brand owners and regional manufacturers across food, beverage and industrial markets.
