Coveris secures RecyClass traceability certification for three packaging sites in France, UK

FRANCE – Coveris has secured RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification at Level 2 for its packaging sites in Firminy, Montfaucon and Louth, reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparency and circularity in its use of recycled materials across multiple European markets.

The newly certified facilities, located in Firminy and Montfaucon in France, and Louth in the UK, supply primary, secondary and tertiary packaging to a range of industries, including beverages, food, home and personal care, pet food and transit. 

The RecyClass certification independently verifies that recycled plastics are responsibly sourced, tracked through the supply chain and used in clearly stated proportions, covering the material journey from verified waste origin to the finished product. 

The certification process includes rigorous audits of material sourcing, production records and quality control systems to ensure full traceability of recycled content throughout the manufacturing cycle. 

Certification Supports Compliance with PPWR and UK Plastic Packaging Tax

Coveris Chief Operating Officer Nikolaus Wolfram stated that with four sites now holding RecyClass certifications, the company is demonstrating that its use of recycled material supports quality, traceability and accountability across the supply chain. 

These achievements reinforce the company’s position in high-performance flexible packaging with recycled content and support its ambition to help close the loop in plastic packaging. 

The latest certifications also support Coveris’ compliance with the UK Plastic Packaging Tax and the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). 

The RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification aligns with EN 15343 and ISO 22095 standards and applies to all stakeholders handling recycled materials.

Winsford Site Completes Second-Year Audits as Group Expands Certification Efforts

Coveris’ site in Winsford, UK, has completed its second-year audits in 2026 after achieving Level 2 certification for both RecyClass Recycling Process and RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability last year. 

The facility continued to meet all mandatory and optional audit criteria. 

The Winsford site serves as a model for the group, with additional Coveris facilities across Europe expected to pursue similar certification to meet rising customer demand for transparent documentation of recycling processes and evolving legislative requirements. 

The certification is issued by RecyClass, a European cross-industry initiative focused on standards for plastics recyclability and recycled content.
