Moving away from packaging and plastics to focus on renewable energy constitutes a considerable change for the company, which has traditionally operated in the manufacturing and packaging space.

TURKEY – Ozerden Ambalaj Sanayi has announced a major strategic pivot to the energy sector, rebranding as Sovilar Enerji and seeking regulatory approval to shift its core business from packaging to renewable electricity generation.
The company, currently active in manufacturing packaging products including insulation boards and polyethylene-based materials, plans to change its trade name to Sovilar Enerji Bilişim İnşaat ve Sanayi Anonim Şirketi.
It has applied to the Capital Markets Board and the Ministry of Trade to amend its Articles of Association, enabling it to establish and operate electricity generation facilities, particularly in renewable energy.
The planned amendments would allow the company to build and operate power plants based on solar, hydro, wind, geothermal and biomass sources, trade generated electricity, and provide engineering, construction and consultancy services for energy infrastructure.
Regulatory Approval and Shareholder Process Underway
The company has applied to the Capital Markets Board and the Ministry of Trade to amend key articles in its Articles of Association, including changing the company’s purpose and scope of activities.
The transformation requires approval from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority and other regulators to operate in the energy sector. Following the regulatory process, the company will seek shareholder approval for the rebranding and strategic pivot.
The company will need to secure licensing from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority and other regulators to operate in the energy sector.
Once all approvals are secured, the company will formally begin operating under its new trade name, Sovilar Enerji, with a renewed focus on renewable energy generation and related services.
Energy Market Opportunities and Strategic Rationale
The transformation signals a move into higher value-added investment areas, potentially altering the company’s operational profile, risk structure and market positioning while opening new opportunities in Turkey’s regulated energy market.
The shift away from packaging and plastics toward renewable energy represents a significant transformation for the company, which has historically been active in the manufacturing and packaging sector.
The planned pivot to renewable energy aligns with Turkey’s growing focus on sustainable energy development and the government’s targets for increasing the share of renewables in the country’s energy mix.
Turkey’s renewable energy capacity has been expanding rapidly, with solar and wind installations continuing to grow as the country seeks to reduce its dependence on imported fossil fuels and meet its climate commitments.
