Market Research Future projects Nonwoven Packaging to reach US$88.7B by 2035

Sustainability shapes the industry: consumers fret over packaging waste, businesses seek green materials, and nonwoven packaging made from natural, recycled, or biodegradable fibres fills gaps where conventional options hurt the environment.

GLOBAL – Market Research Future reports that the global nonwoven packaging market has been valued at US$42.10 billion in 2025, with projections showing expansion to US$88.70 billion by 2035 at a compound annual growth rate of 7.92%.

According to Market Research Future, the sector is expected to move from US$44.62 billion in 2026 toward US$88.70 billion by 2035, representing sustained value gains across the forecast period.

Nonwoven packaging refers to products manufactured from nonwoven fabrics rather than conventional woven textiles or traditional packaging materials.

These fabrics are produced by bonding fibres mechanically, chemically, thermally or through combined processes.

The resulting materials offer flexibility, strength, lightweight construction, breathability and resistance to moisture or abrasion, making them suitable for a wide range of packaging applications spanning consumer goods, healthcare, food and beverage, electronics, automotive and industrial segments.

Sustainability Concerns Reshape Material Selection

Sustainability ranks among the most influential factors shaping the industry. Consumers are increasingly concerned about packaging waste, while businesses seek materials that support their environmental goals.

Nonwoven packaging made from natural, recycled or biodegradable fibres provides alternatives where conventional materials carry environmental disadvantages.

This trend is encouraging manufacturers to invest in new materials and production technologies.

Natural fibres attract interest for their renewable and biodegradable characteristics, while synthetic fibres remain important for durability, versatility and demanding performance requirements.

E-Commerce and Hygiene Applications Drive Volume

The continued growth of e-commerce is generating demand for packaging that is lightweight, durable, flexible and capable of protecting products during transportation.

Nonwoven materials can be customised for different product sizes, making them attractive for online retailers seeking functional packaging that also supports branding.

Healthcare and hygiene applications represent another significant demand source, as nonwoven materials provide protective and hygienic barriers.

Growing focus on healthcare standards, cleanliness and product safety is creating opportunities for specialised solutions in pharmaceuticals and medical applications.

Technology and Branding Open New Frontiers

Advances in manufacturing are improving material performance, production efficiency, customisation and cost competitiveness.

New bonding technologies, improved surface treatments, advanced printing techniques and innovative fibre combinations enable manufacturers to develop packaging designed for specific applications.

Packaging has also become an important part of brand communication, with companies seeking distinctive customer experiences. Nonwoven materials can be printed, coloured, shaped and customised, supporting personalised and visually appealing formats.
