Gallus Group names Michael Bsirske interim CEO in leadership shake-up

Bsirske, the current CFO, takes over as interim CEO, as Urbinati departs the CEO post on 1 November 2026 for Gallus Ferd’s board, where he’ll become president on 1 January 2027.

GERMANY – Gallus Group has appointed Michael Bsirske as interim chief executive officer, with Dario Urbinati set to leave the CEO position on 1 November 2026 and join the board of Gallus Ferd.

Bsirske, who currently serves as the company’s chief financial officer, will take on the interim CEO role. Urbinati will leave the CEO position on 1 November 2026 and join the board of Gallus Ferd, where he is due to become president of the board on 1 January 2027.

The transition keeps Urbinati connected to the label printing technology provider in a governance capacity rather than an operational one.

Global Sales Leadership Changes From October

From 1 October 2026, Uwe Boerner will lead global sales while continuing to oversee key accounts. He replaces Thomas Schweizer, who is leaving Gallus Group to take up a position outside the company.

The sales leadership change coincides with the interim CEO appointment, indicating a coordinated restructuring rather than an isolated departure. Gallus Group is part of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen.

Product Expansion Drives Organisational Change

The changes follow the expansion of Gallus Group’s digital product range, including Gallus One and Gallus Five, as well as developments involving its existing products and the Gallus Experience Center.

The company is also expanding its activities in markets including India. Digital label printing has grown as brand owners seek shorter runs, versioned packaging and faster turnaround, pressuring equipment suppliers to broaden portfolios beyond conventional flexo platforms.

Outgoing CEO Cites Transformation Milestone

Urbinati said the transformation journey Gallus had undertaken over recent years had been successful, expressing pride in what the entire team had achieved together.

He noted that Gallus was recognised as one of the key players driving digital transformation within the industry, with a clear strategy, strong momentum and a highly engaged global customer base.

He added that in his new board role he would remain closely connected to Gallus, explaining that having helped guide the business through a period of transformation and growth, he felt it was the right time to step back from day-to-day operational responsibilities while continuing to support long-term strategy, innovation and key customer relationships.

The leadership changes take effect across October and November 2026, with board responsibilities shifting from the start of 2027.
