The new facility is located in San Jose, Costa Rica.

USA – Amcor, a global leader in packaging solutions, has launched a new warehouse and distribution facility in San José, Costa Rica, to enhance its healthcare packaging network.
The strategically located site aims to serve medical customers across the Americas, focusing on improving supply chain efficiency for products like trays, die-cut lids, forming films, bags, pouches, and labels.
According to Amcor, the facility prioritizes speed of service and streamlined customs processes, addressing key challenges for medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Art Castro, Amcor’s Vice President, stated, “Costa Rica hosts several top medtech original equipment manufacturers, making it a hub for medical technology innovation.”
“This new center will enhance supply chain efficiency and provide better access to our innovative packaging solutions.”
The facility aligns with Amcor’s global healthcare packaging strategy, which emphasizes high-quality, regulatory-compliant solutions for medical, pharmaceutical, and consumer health markets.
A company statement highlighted that its best-in-class quality management ensures rapid access to a diverse product portfolio while adhering to strict industry standards.
In a related development, Amcor recently expanded its thermoforming capabilities in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with new equipment set to be operational by December 2024.
This move, reported by Packaging Digest, aims to meet growing demand for sterile barrier packaging in North America, allowing customers to source trays and lids from a single location, further optimizing production.
Earlier this year, the company selected four startups for its Lift-Off competition to develop compostable substrate barriers, signaling its commitment to eco-friendly innovation.
Additionally, last month, Amcor partnered with RAUCH Yippy, an Austrian children’s drink brand, to provide tamper-evident sports caps, showcasing its versatility in packaging solutions.
The Costa Rica facility is expected to strengthen Amcor’s position in the healthcare sector, where demand for reliable, efficient packaging continues to grow.
By leveraging its global expertise and local presence, Amcor aims to support customers in navigating complex supply chains while delivering sustainable, high-performance packaging.
With operations spanning over 210 locations in 36 countries and annual sales of approximately US$15 billion, Amcor continues to solidify its role as a key player in the global packaging industry.
