LATIN AMERICA – Global packaging solutions provider Amcor has launched its AmFiber™ Performance Paper packaging in Latin America, providing customers with a high-barrier, recyclable paper-based packaging solution.
Launched first for the confectionery market with a cold seal, it has been recently expanded to include heat seal sachets for dry culinary and beverage applications, such as instant coffee, drink powders, spices, seasonings, and dried soups.
With more than 80% paper fiber content and PVDC-free, this latest material innovation is recyclable, where a paper recycling stream exists.
In addition to expanding its application to new product categories, Amcor has invested in manufacturing capacity to meet the growing global demand for this kind of paper packaging, including an integrated state-of-the-art production line in its Amcor Flexibles Alzira plant in Spain.
Ilya Syshchikov, vice president, Global Product Management AmFiber™ said: “Our AmFiber™ Performance Paper is already on store shelves across Europe and Australia, and we’re excited to now deliver this proven solution in Latin America.
“This marks another important milestone toward developing recyclable paper packaging solutions for all the segments we serve in all regions across the globe.”
The AmFiber™ Performance Paper was first launched in January of 2022 with a focus on providing a high barrier from oxygen and moisture.
Amcor CEO Ron Delia at the time said: “Amcor’s long-term experience in paper and carton packaging was the basis for launching the AmFiber platform.
“Amcor has a proven history of delivering ground-breaking innovation to support our customers’ growth aspirations.
“This family of differentiated paper-based products builds on Amcor’s extensive track record across multiple materials and applications.”
The platform’s launch was timed to coincide with the four-year anniversary of Amcor’s 2025 commitment to making all its packaging recyclable or reusable and increasing the levels of recycled content in its packaging.
Recently, the packaging solutions provider built a new production line for high-performance shrink bags and films for meat and cheese at its Amcor Flexibles plant in Swansea, UK.
According to Amcor, the new production line will deliver several products in Amcor’s PrimeSeal packaging range for meat and DairySeal packaging range for cheese, including Crystal Shield 75 shrink bag, Eco-Tite, Cook-Tite, Flow-Tite, and Form-Tite.
Amcor said its range of PrimeSeal shrink bags and films significantly extends the shelf life of highly perishable products like fresh meat.
