AUSTRIA – The international technology conglomerate Andritz has secured an order from Rondo Ganahl AG for the provision of dewatering and dispersing machinery set to be installed at its paper mill in Frastanz, Austria.
This enhancement aims to future-proof the paper mill, aligning it with escalating demands within the production process.
Andritz will overhaul the entire dewatering and dispersing equipment, thereby boosting the system’s capacity to a remarkable 230 bdt/d.
A pivotal element of this innovative setup will be the Twin Wire Press, specifically the TWP2833L model, meticulously crafted with a modular design to optimize functionality within the constrained space of the installation site.
The Andritz Twin Wire Press excels in dewatering diverse fiber types, especially when achieving high pulp dryness or separating water loops becomes imperative.
Additionally, Andritz will provide fundamental engineering, oversee erection, handle commissioning and start-up processes, and conduct operator training.
Bertram Elsensohn, Division Manager of Technology at Rondo Ganahl AG, asserts, “This investment is pivotal for expanding our production capacity and enhancing the efficacy of our stock preparation line. It positions us to more adeptly meet future market demands.”
Rondo Ganahl AG, an Austrian family enterprise tracing its origins back to 1797, specializes in manufacturing corrugated board packaging products, corrugated case material, and paper and packaging collection services.
Andritz’s textile recycling venture commences operations in Biella, Italy
In another development, Andritz has recently started up a new textile recycling line at Sfilacciatura Negro’s plant in Biella, Italy.
This textile recycling line, devised to handle post-consumer textile waste with automated elimination of rigid components, bolsters the company’s expansion into fresh recycling sectors.
Considering the escalating need for sustainable fibers in re-spinning and nonwoven industries, Sfilacciatura Negro Biella opted to broaden its recycling capabilities.
Leveraging its extensive expertise in recycling industrial textile waste and running two tearing lines, the company is now venturing into recycling post-consumer clothing waste through a long-term partnership with Andritz.
Tiziano Negro, CEO of Sfilacciatura Negro, elucidates, “Our strategy revolves around circularity, crafting new fibers from textile waste that would otherwise populate landfills.
“Having established a lengthy association with Andritz, known for their proficiency in textile recycling and nonwovens, we are confident in their capacity to bolster our enterprise as we pursue our ambitious diversification initiative.”
The cutting-edge recycling line furnished by Andritz to Sfilacciatura Negro is the culmination of a decade-long collaboration, encompassing trials at its technical center and on-site assessments at customer lines in Spain and Portugal.
Andritz has tailored a comprehensive line, spanning from sorted waste bale feeding to recycled fiber baling, designed for highly efficient, energy-conserving operations.
This setup also includes automated hard point separation, efficient airflow, and dust management via an automated filtration unit.
Remarkably, a single operator suffices to oversee the entire line until the production of film-wrapped and tied bales weighing up to 350 kg.
