Aptar Beauty unveils first fragrance pump available with PCR content

USA – Dispensing packaging solutions provider Aptar Beauty has launched a groundbreaking fragrance pump incorporating up to 67% post-consumer recycled (PCR) resin.

This innovative pump is the first to use such a high percentage of mechanical PCR material, significantly reducing its environmental impact.

Using PCR content during manufacturing, Aptar has decreased the product’s CO₂ emissions by up to 39% compared to the conventional resin version.

This reduction has been verified through a life cycle analysis of the raw materials using Aptar’s internal Eco Design tool.

The PCR fragrance pump can be recycled alongside the bottle as glass waste, subject to local recycling capabilities.

The snap-on pump dispenses an 80mcl dosage and is fully customizable, allowing brands to create on-brand designs.

This product aims to help brands reduce their Scope 3 carbon emissions, which are indirect in a company’s value chain. Additionally, depending on their location, using the pump may help brands avoid extra plastic packaging taxes.

Giuseppe Barletta, Aptar Beauty’s Fragrance Lifestyle Regional Platform Manager for EMEA, stated: “This pump not only adds a touch of color and differentiation to fragrance launches but also helps brands achieve their sustainability goals by committing to packaging circularity.”

In addition to the fragrance pump, Aptar Beauty has introduced the NeoDropper skincare packaging solution, designed for more controlled application.

The NeoDropper represents a significant innovation in precision skincare packaging, addressing consumer concerns about formula protection, convenience, and clean usage.

The NeoDropper maintains the intuitive dropper gesture while enhancing hygiene and precision. When the bulb is pressed, the formula rises in the dip tube and fills the applicator.

A subsequent press dispenses the dose, preventing bacteria retro-contamination and ensuring formula protection.

Rigorous laboratory tests confirm NeoDropper’s effectiveness in safeguarding product integrity. The dropper’s design prevents spills, even if the bottle is overturned.

Precision dosing is crucial in premium skincare, and NeoDropper delivers the right dose with a simple squeeze of the bulb.

The short applicator prevents overflow, offering better control and an optimal user experience. The upper and lower collars, including various finishes and branding options, are fully customizable to meet brands’ personalization needs. The bulb can also be customized in color and finish, even metallization.

NeoDropper can be paired with existing dropper bottles in the market. It is paired with the Oslo II bottle from Heinz Glas for its launch. NeoDropper is compatible with glass recycling streams, aligning with Aptar Beauty’s commitment to sustainability.

These innovations reflect Aptar Beauty’s proactive approach towards more sustainable product development, meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions.
