LUXEMBOURG – Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP), a leading supplier of recyclable metal beverage cans, has appointed Stefan Schellinger as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective 1 September 2024.

Schellinger will succeed David Bourne, who is leaving the company to pursue new opportunities.

With over 25 years of financial and commercial experience, Schellinger has previously held key roles in two publicly listed companies, ContourGlobal and Essentra.

From 2019 to 2023, he served as Executive Vice President and global CFO and was a member of ContourGlobal’s Board of Directors.

Additionally, Schellinger holds dual British and German citizenship and was Essentra’s Group Finance Director and Executive Director from 2015 until 2018.

“I am delighted that Stefan is joining AMP as our Chief Financial Officer,” said AMP Chief Executive Oliver Graham.

“Stefan is a highly experienced public company CFO with a proven track record of driving value through both organic and inorganic growth.

“I would also like to thank David Bourne for his outstanding contribution to the company and his strong support to myself and the AMP global team. I wish him every success in his future endeavours.”

AMP, an operating company within the sustainable packaging business Ardagh Group, is a major supplier of infinitely recyclable metal beverage cans.

In 2023, the company reported sales of approximately US$4.8 billion. With 23 production facilities across nine countries, AMP serves brands throughout Europe, North America, and Brazil.

In the second quarter of the 2024 financial year, AMP reported a revenue increase of US$4 million, compared to the US$1.25 billion achieved in the three months ending 30 June 2023.

AMP partners with Radnor Hills on recyclable canned water for golf events

In other news, AMP has partnered with Radnor Hills to produce custom, ‘infinitely recyclable’ canned water, aimed at keeping golfers hydrated during professional events this year.

Radnor Hills is the official water supplier for several DP World Tour golf tournaments this summer, including the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, the Betfred British Masters at The Belfry from August 29 to September 1, and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club from September 19 to 22.

The Welsh soft drinks manufacturer is also the official supplier for the Senior Open Championship, held this year at Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland.

The canned water will be available to players, caddies, and marshals through several fridges and specially branded water coolers located around the tees and practice grounds at these events.

During the Genesis Scottish Open, players Rory McIlroy, Bob MacIntyre, and Tom Kim were seen with the cans at a press conference.

According to Metal Packaging Europe, 76% of aluminum beverage cans are recycled across Europe, making metal packaging the most recycled beverage container.

AMP emphasizes that when metal products reach the end of their useful life, they are collected and recycled without losing their inherent properties, a process known as ‘real recycling’.

The DP World Tour’s ‘Green Drive’ sustainability program has made history as the first professional golf tour to commit to being net carbon zero by 2040.

This initiative is part of the Tour’s broader ‘Golf for Good’ program, which focuses on environmental and social sustainability, ensuring a positive long-term impact on the courses, countries, and communities visited each season.
