Berry Global introduces reusable tableware for foodservice sector

GLOBAL – Berry Global has unveiled its Reusable Tableware Range to address the foodservice industry’s burgeoning demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

This endeavor responds to escalating legislative and consumer pressures within the sector, compelling a paradigm shift in packaging practices.

Notably, France’s Anti-Waste Law for Circular Economy (AGEC) mandates that restaurants and establishments accommodating over 20 patrons must proffer reusable tableware.

Josef Björck, VP of Food Service at Berry Superfos, underscored the company’s commitment to assisting customers in navigating the evolving sustainability landscape.

He emphasized the development of innovative, reusable plastic products as instrumental in propelling the industry towards a truly circular economy.

The new tableware range aims to curtail waste, diminish reliance on virgin resources, and ensure compliance with pertinent legislation, all while prioritizing functionality and durability.

Crafted to cater to the diverse requirements of the foodservice industry, the range features bowls and lids engineered for effortless reuse and convenience.

Transparent lids facilitate enticing food displays, accommodating various culinary delights from full-course meals to delectable desserts. Furthermore, the inclusion of in-mould labeling enables branding customization, aligning with the unique identity of individual food providers.

The bowls and lids are designed for streamlined transportation, storage, and on-site operations, boasting internal stacking ribs and user-friendly designs facilitating efficient serving by waiting staff.

Notably, the lids serve a dual purpose as plates, maximizing versatility. Manufactured from high-grade polypropylene (PP), the bowls ensure food safety and ease of recyclability.

Their robust construction ensures durability across multiple wash cycles in industrial dishwashers, promoting cleanliness and hygiene while conserving energy, water, and time.

A matte exterior finish enhances scratch resistance, while a hygienic smooth interior minimizes bacterial proliferation.

Complementing the sustainability ethos, the range integrates a take-back infrastructure program, enabling customers to return used bowls and lids for sanitation and re-circulation.

Each bowl features provisions for QR codes, barcodes, Digimarc, or RFID chips to facilitate inventory management and track reuse cycles, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.

Björck concluded by highlighting the transformative impact of the Reusable Tableware Range on restaurant operations, emphasizing its pragmatic and efficient attributes tailored to meet diverse foodservice needs.

Early this month, the company introduced its newest breakthrough, the Wave2cc mono-material dispenser for personal care, now accessible through Berry Agile Solutions.

This dispenser heralds a new era in consumer experience, providing enhanced dispensing capabilities for an extensive array of products, encompassing liquid soap, hair treatments, and body lotions, all while delivering remarkable sustainability advantages.
