Tetra Pak appoints Michael Wu as Oceania MD to drive sustainability, food systems innovation

Wu’s new role heading Tetra Pak ANZ will focus on helping customers enhance food safety, reduce environmental footprint, and strengthen food systems through advanced packaging and processing technology.

AUSTRALIA – Tetra Pak has appointed Michael Wu as managing director of its Oceania business, bringing 18 years of global experience across the company’s operations to lead food processing and packaging solutions for customers across Australia and New Zealand.

Wu took up the role on 1 September 2026, moving from his most recent position as market operations quality and sustainability director. 

He has previously served as managing director of Tetra Pak’s business across Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia, and held roles including vice-president commercial and cluster leader for Greater China, and director of supply chain integration.

His career with the food processing and packaging solutions company has also included roles across China, Canada and Southeast Asia, giving him a broad perspective on diverse markets and regulatory environments. 

Priorities Include Food Safety, Sustainability and Resilient Food Systems

In his new role, Wu will lead Tetra Pak’s Australian and New Zealand operations, supporting food and beverage manufacturers with packaging and processing technologies. 

His priorities will include helping customers improve food safety, reduce the environmental impact of their operations and strengthen food systems. 

Tetra Pak provides food processing and packaging solutions in more than 160 countries and employs more than 24,000 people worldwide. 

The company is a leading global packaging and processing solutions provider, with a strong presence in the Australian and New Zealand markets where it supports the dairy, juice and liquid food industries. 

The company’s Oceania operations serve customers across the region with aseptic carton packaging, processing equipment and technical services that help manufacturers extend shelf life and reduce food waste.

Wu stated that Australia and New Zealand are home to a dynamic and innovative food industry, and he is excited to be joining such a strong team. 

He noted that customers are navigating changing consumer expectations, evolving technologies and a growing focus on sustainability, while continuing to deliver safe, nutritious food and beverages to communities every day. 

He added that Tetra Pak is well positioned to support them through innovation, deep industry expertise and a commitment to helping build more resilient and sustainable food systems.

Wu said he looked forward to working with Tetra Pak’s customers, partners and employees to identify growth opportunities across the Oceania market, building on the company’s long-standing presence in the region that dates back to its establishment of Oceania operations in 1954.
