SWITZERLAND – BOBST has signed an agreement with tapes and self-adhesive product solutions maker Tesa to provide joint solutions for flexographic printing and enhanced cohesive support for their clients.
As part of the agreement, which came into effect in January this year, the parties will combine their expertise in market requirements and technical facilities to develop new and bespoke solutions to address customer requirements and the growing market demands.
BOBST’s customers can use tesa’s advanced plate mounting tapes and other solutions to reduce job preparation and press setup time.
They will offer high-quality products with improved consistency and repeatability while improving sustainability by reducing waste.
CI Flexo Product Marketing head Frank Jurczyk said: “BOBST is pleased to take the next step in the established relationship with tesa, as we strengthen the cooperation between the two businesses to provide an all-inclusive solutions package of equipment and consumables.
“BOBST is constantly evaluating new opportunities that will benefit customers, and our vision for the future of the packaging industry includes working together with other providers, such as tesa, who are also experts in their areas. Together we can add more value and better help our customers optimize the production process.”
The partnership is in line with BOBST’s ongoing effort to offer comprehensive solutions aimed at maximizing productivity and reducing waste for its customers.
Based in Germany, tesa produces splicing tapes, advanced plate mounting tapes and sleeves, cushioning foams, and other complementary products.
The products are intended for use in CI and inline flexographic printing for flexible packaging, labels, corrugated boxes and folding cartons.
Supplier tesa, which is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, offers products used in CI and inline flexographic printing for flexible packaging, labels, corrugated boxes and folding cartons.
In February this year, BOBST registered full-year consolidated sales of Sfr1.84 billion (US$1.96bn) for the fiscal year 2022, up by 17.8% from the fiscal year 2021.
The company’s sales were driven by ‘strong’ growth in Europe and the Americas, where they rose by 19.1% and 29.8% respectively compared with the prior year.
Bobst’s Business Unit Printing & Converting segment also posted a good performance, with its sales increasing by 22.9% to Sfr1.22 billion (US$1.30bn) during the year.
In a statement, the company said: “The increase was due to higher backlog at the beginning of the year compared to 2021 and again very high order entries during the reporting year.”
Bobst’s Business Unit Services & Performance segment also saw a 9.1% sales growth to Sfr622 million (US$660.56m) in FY22.
