Tibi facility strengthens shrink sleeve and in-mold label production.

SPAIN – CCL Label has expanded its operations in Tibi, Spain, consolidating high-performance shrink sleeve and in-mold label (IML) production into a single, integrated facility serving the food and beverage sector.
The upgraded site brings together offset and gravure printing technologies under one roof, alongside newly installed die-cutting capabilities.
The investment is aimed at delivering enhanced graphic performance, colour vibrancy and precision detailing for increasingly demanding packaging applications in beverages, dairy, prepared foods and other fast-moving consumer goods categories.
“We have significantly strengthened our production platform in Tibi with the addition of new high-performance printing presses and expanded die-cutting capabilities,” said Reinhard Streit, Group Vice President Food & Beverage Global at CCL Label.
“This integration enhances efficiency, accelerates lead times and creates a powerful center of excellence for decorative products serving the food and beverage market.”
By consolidating shrink sleeve and IML production at a single location, CCL is positioning the Tibi plant as a regional hub capable of supporting both multinational brands and local producers across Southern Europe.
The move is expected to streamline workflows, improve coordination between printing and finishing processes, and reduce turnaround times for customers.
The expansion also comes amid tightening regulatory requirements in Europe. In particular, the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) introduces harmonized rules on recyclability, packaging design and labelling across member states.
CCL stated that its Tibi production lines are configured to deliver shrink sleeves and in-mold labels designed to be PPWR-compliant and aligned with Design for Recycling guidelines.
For shrink sleeves, this includes solutions compatible with recycling streams and improved separation during washing processes, while IML technologies can support mono-material packaging structures, particularly in polypropylene (PP) formats widely used in food containers.
Streit said the investment underlines CCL’s dual focus on market performance and responsible design.
“We combine local agility with global expertise to help brands thrive in an evolving regulatory landscape, from labeling compliance to sustainable packaging outcomes,” he noted.
The Tibi expansion reflects a broader trend in the European label and decoration market, where suppliers are upgrading production platforms to meet brand demands for premium shelf appeal while ensuring compliance with emerging circular economy requirements.
