HiFlow’s new AI invoice module tackles 66% manual AP workflow in packaging sector

When an invoice arrives by email, HiFlow’s AI module captures the attached PDF and automatically extracts relevant information, following standard accounts payable workflow including purchase order matching, approval routing, and posting according to each company’s business rules and procedures.

USA – HiFlow Solutions has launched an AI-powered invoice processing module for its packaging-specific ERP platform, automating data extraction from PDF invoices to address the 66 percent of accounts payable functions that still rely heavily on manual processing according to the 2026 Accounts Payable Benchmarking Report.

The module captures key invoice fields including line items, quantities, amounts, purchase order numbers and vendor information from emailed PDFs and populates them directly into the HiFlow ERP system.

Prepared invoice records then move into the standard accounts payable workflow for purchase order matching, approval routing and posting according to each company’s established business rules.

For packaging converters managing high volumes of supplier invoices from diverse material vendors, this automation significantly reduces manual administrative effort.

What 6.4% Same-Day Invoice Processing Benchmark Reveals About Packaging Industry Efficiency

The Accounts Payable Association’s 2026 Industry Benchmarking Report found that nearly two-thirds of accounts payable functions still rely heavily on manual invoice processing, with only 6.4 percent achieving same-day processing.

The report identified AI-assisted invoice capture as one of the highest-impact opportunities in the entire AP workflow.

When an invoice arrives by email, HiFlow’s AI module captures the attached PDF and automatically extracts relevant information, following standard accounts payable workflow including purchase order matching, approval routing, and posting according to each company’s business rules and procedures.

This eliminates manual data entry, enabling AP staff to redirect their time to exception resolution and strategic priorities.

How AI-Driven AP Automation Addresses Thin Margins in Packaging Manufacturing

HiFlow CEO Mariusz Sosnowski stated that the new AI-powered invoice processing module is designed to help reduce the burden of manual invoice processing by automatically extracting and preparing invoice data within the HiFlow ERP platform.

The accounts payable module joins recent AI additions covering estimating, price list management, order processing and inbound materials receiving.

For packaging manufacturers operating on thin margins with high invoice volumes, this AI integration addresses a critical pain point.

The automation allows AP teams to focus on exception handling and strategic supplier relationship management while ensuring consistent data capture across all incoming invoices.

HiFlow’s approach of embedding AI into document-intensive workflows improves operational visibility while reducing manual administrative effort across label converters, flexible packaging, folding carton and corrugated manufacturers.
