NETHERLANDS – Infant food, nutritional, and well-being packaging specialist Hoffmann Neopac has invested US$4.5 million to build a tin production line for baby milk powder products at its manufacturing facility in the Netherlands.
The company says that the new line, which has been installed and operating in a segregated room for food-grade compliance, is already servicing a major customer in the baby milk sector.

Hoffmann manufactures its tin supplies through production standards applicable for major markets like the EU, US and China.
The investment creates the capacity to expand its baby milk powder tin production to 118 million pieces per year.
Currently, the line is producing 99 mm diameter cans with volumes of up to 400 g. The newly dedicated room also has space for a second production line to accommodate continued growth.
The expanded capacity and new environmentally sustainable product lines also come with a newly reorganized leadership team.
To ensure alignment across its two tins production facilities in Switzerland and the Netherlands, Hoffmann says it has streamlined its executive structure to hold responsibility over the entirety of its growing metal packaging business unit.
With this investment, the company is aiming to have all its products packaged in environmentally sustainable alternatives to plastics.
Meanwhile, early last month, the company unveiled a new line of post-consumer recycled (PCR) caps for personal care and beauty packaging.
The new series debuted with screw caps made of recycled high-density polyethylene (rHDPE) with diameters ranging from 19 to 40 millimeters (mm), a flip-top closure with a 35mm diameter, and an octagonal cap for sample tubes.
Hoffman Neopac claimed that each cap can be recycled in its whole in the HDPE streams that are now available.
The new product’s introduction marks the first widely available rHDPE cap series with a high PCR percentage of 70%.
The packaging firm said that when combined with sustainability-minded tubes, the result is the possibility to develop packaging solutions made up of up to 77% recycled material.
