INDIA – HP and Redington India have inaugurated a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Chennai, aimed at accelerating the adoption of digital printing technologies and strengthening capabilities across India’s fast-evolving print and packaging industry.
The 20,000 sq ft facility was formally opened by Arnon Goldman, general manager, industrial print GTM, Asia Pacific and Japan at HP; Pawan Chauhan, country business manager, HP Industrial and Inkjet Business Solutions, HP India; and Redington Group CEO V S Hariharan, alongside senior industry stakeholders, customers and partners.
Designed as a comprehensive, experience-led hub, the Chennai CoE will support technology demonstrations, professional training, process optimization and industry consulting.
It is intended to enable printers, converters and brand owners to better understand and deploy HP Indigo digital printing solutions, while also educating print buyers on how to use digital print more effectively to remain competitive.
According to HP and Redington, the centre reflects growing demand in India for high-quality, short-run, customized and value-added print, driven by brand differentiation, faster go-to-market requirements and the rise of digital-first business models.
Pawan Chauhan said the initiative underlines HP’s long-term commitment to the Indian digital printing ecosystem.
“The launch of the Centre of Excellence reflects our focus on building skills for the future of work and driving innovation. It also marks 21 years of trust and collaboration between HP and Redington, creating a platform that empowers Indian print businesses to explore new applications and grow,” he said.
Goldman described India as being at a pivotal point in its digital transformation, with increasing demand for personalized and high-quality print. He noted that the CoE provides customers with end-to-end solutions under one roof, helping them strengthen their capabilities in a dynamic and competitive market.
From Redington’s perspective, the CoE aligns with broader manufacturing and technology trends.
Hariharan said flexible, digital-first platforms will shape the future of manufacturing, adding that the initiative positions Redington to deepen customer engagement, expand solution-led revenues and accelerate adoption of advanced digital printing and HP Industrial 3D Printing technologies.
The centre features live demonstrations of the HP Indigo 18K digital press (B2 format) and the HP Indigo 7K digital press (A3 format).
The Indigo 7K will be fully operational for hands-on demo and training programs, supporting jobbers and printers focused on short runs, customization and high-value applications.
The Indigo 18K, meanwhile, showcases scalable digital production for commercial printers, highlighting faster makereadies and the ability to manage multiple applications efficiently.
In addition, the CoE houses finishing equipment, along with a full suite of prepress and postpress services and web-to-print workflows.
These capabilities span commercial print, photo, publishing, labels and packaging, illustrating the versatility and application breadth of HP Indigo technology.
As India’s print sector continues to modernize, the Chennai Centre of Excellence is positioned as a focal point for skills development, innovation and collaboration across the digital print value chain.
