The leadership move aims to strengthen operational performance as the aluminium packaging manufacturer expands its presence in the global food packaging market.

UK – i2r Packaging Solutions has appointed Benito Sala as its new managing director, bringing more than two decades of leadership experience across manufacturing sectors including automotive, aerospace, and industrial production.
Sala will report to Marco De Lellis, who serves as chief executive officer of Contital and managing director of the Container Division of Laminazione Sottile Group.
According to De Lellis, the appointment supports the company’s strategy to reinforce leadership and operational performance as the business continues to grow within the European food packaging sector.
“Benito is a proven leader with extensive experience in complex manufacturing environments, having successfully led organizational change and delivered sustainable performance improvements throughout his career,” said De Lellis.
“His appointment further supports i2r’s leadership as the business continues to build on its strong market position and focus on operational excellence.”
The leadership transition follows a series of organizational adjustments at i2r designed to strengthen internal processes and maintain competitiveness in the evolving packaging market.
Backed by Contital and the Laminazione Sottile Group Container Division, the company is focusing on operational efficiency, service delivery, and long-term growth.
In his new role, Sala will oversee operational strategy and internal coordination across the company’s manufacturing and business functions.
His previous positions have involved managing large-scale organizational change programs, supervising restructures, and implementing process improvements in complex industrial environments.
Sala said he sees strong potential to build on the company’s technical expertise and established customer relationships.
“i2r has deep technical expertise, a loyal customer base and the backing of a well-established international group,” he said.
“There is significant opportunity to build on these foundations. My focus will be on driving operational discipline, improving collaboration across teams and ensuring we consistently deliver value to our customers.”
i2r Packaging Solutions manufactures more than 1.2 billion aluminium packaging products annually, supplying food producers, retail brands, and distribution partners worldwide.
