The BLE smart labels are engineered to capture environmental data.

USA – Identiv and Tag-N-Trac have announced a strategic partnership aimed at revolutionizing cold chain tracking within pharmaceutical supply chains.
The collaboration seeks to develop and commercialize a smart labelling solution that combines Identiv’s advanced Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) smart labels with Tag-N-Trac’s SaaS platform, RELATIVITY, to deliver real-time, item-level visibility from origin to delivery.
The BLE smart labels are engineered to capture environmental data—such as temperature and humidity, throughout transit.
This raw data is then converted by RELATIVITY into actionable analytics, enabling pharmaceutical companies to monitor a product’s location, condition, and chain-of-custody in real time.
Designed to address the stringent demands of cold chain logistics, the platform aims to ensure temperature-sensitive medicines maintain their integrity and regulatory compliance from warehouse to destination.
The solution is recommended for critical applications such as the transportation of vaccines, biologics, and high-value pharmaceuticals.
According to both companies, their combined technologies will support smarter, more connected supply chains by leveraging IoT innovation to improve compliance, efficiency, and patient safety.
“As regulatory requirements and patient safety concerns grow, real-time data and visibility into the pharmaceutical cold chain have become critical,” said Kirsten Newquist, CEO of Identiv.
“Our strategic partnership with Tag-N-Trac supports pharmaceutical customers with smart, scalable IoT solutions that meet rigorous regulatory standards while optimizing operational efficiency.”
Tag-N-Trac CEO Venu Gutlapalli added, “Cold chain visibility is one of the most complex and vital challenges in pharmaceutical distribution and logistics.
“Together with Identiv, we’re delivering a comprehensive digital solution that gives pharmaceutical companies the confidence and data intelligence to manage temperature-sensitive products safely, efficiently, and in full compliance.”
This partnership follows a similar innovation by Avery Dennison, which recently collaborated with digital pharma supply chain platform Controlant to introduce the Saga Card.
Designed for use with Controlant’s Aurora cloud platform, the device enhances supply chain visibility through LTE-M and NB-IoT connectivity, a zinc-based battery, integrated nuSIM, and environmental sensors.
The Saga Card enables real-time tracking of pharmaceutical inventories at multiple geographic levels, providing actionable insights as products move through complex logistics networks.
This extended visibility supports inventory management, waste reduction, and compliance efforts throughout the supply chain.
Barbara van Rymenam, senior director of healthcare at Avery Dennison, concluded, “The pharma industry has long lacked an effective real-time, end-to-end supply chain visibility solution. Due to the highly regulated and complex supply network, industry adoption of new technologies is typically slow.”
