
USA – International Paper has announced that Tom Plath, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, will leave the company at the end of the year.
Plath’s distinguished 33-year career at International Paper includes various HR, operations, marketing, and general management roles.
He was appointed an officer in 2013 and elevated to Senior Vice President in 2017. In 2023, his responsibilities expanded to include human resources, aviation, real estate, communications, sustainability, and government relations as SVP of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs.
His current duties will be reassigned immediately, and Plath will continue in an advisory capacity through the end of the year to ensure a seamless transition. A successor has yet to be named.
International Paper is a global leader in sustainable packaging, pulp, and other fibre-based products and one of the world’s largest recyclers.
Paper Excellence appoints Luc Theriault to lead Wood Products business unit
The Paper Excellence Group has named Luc Theriault as President of its Wood Products business unit, effective August 26, 2024.
Before joining the Paper Excellence Group, Theriault held various leadership positions at Resolute Forest Products, culminating in his role as Senior Vice President of Wood Products from 2002 to 2020.
His leadership was instrumental in shaping business strategies, enhancing health and safety programs, strengthening sales and customer relationships, and optimizing harvesting and manufacturing processes, significantly contributing to Resolute’s growth and success.
Theriault rejoins the Paper Excellence Group after a brief period outside the forest products industry.
In his new role, Theriault will oversee the operations of all legacy Resolute wood products businesses, focusing on profitable and sustainable practices while maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
With over 30 years of wood product experience, Theriault’s commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with the company’s goals and values. He will report directly to the Paper Excellence Group management board, chaired by Williams.
