Ishida Europe launches QX-800 tray sealer to boost efficiency in high-volume production

The QX-800 delivers a wide range of sealing applications at high speeds and with consistent quality.

EUROPE – Ishida Europe has unveiled the QX-800, a next-generation tray sealer engineered to meet the rigorous demands of high-volume food production lines.

Compact, intelligent, and sustainable by design, the QX-800 addresses key industry challenges around throughput, energy use, and equipment footprint.

Specifically developed for large-scale operations, the QX-800 delivers a wide range of sealing applications at high speeds and with consistent quality.

These include seal-only, gas flushing, stretch film, and skinpack formats. At the heart of its performance is advanced servo-motor technology, allowing up to 25 seal-only cycles per minute, and 17 Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) cycles per minute.

With a 7-impression tool, this equates to up to 175 trays sealed per minute—a major productivity advantage.

The QX-800 also sets new benchmarks in energy efficiency, achieving up to 50% lower power consumption compared to Ishida’s previous QX Flex range. It requires neither a water chiller nor compressed air, further reducing utility and maintenance costs.

In a bid to cut food waste, Ishida has introduced a new patented tray transfer system that ensures smooth, spill-free handling—even for difficult products like soup.

Fast product changeovers are supported by cassette-based tooling, which averages under 70kg and can be changed in less than 10 minutes using Ishida’s custom trolley, reducing downtime significantly.

“Our goal with every new machine is to make it smart, compact, efficient, and sustainable,” said Tara O’Connor, Product Manager for Tray Sealers at Ishida Europe.

“The QX-800 delivers on all fronts, supporting a wide variety of tray formats including plastic, board, aluminium, and fibre.”

Recognizing the industry trend toward full automation, Ishida designed the QX-800 with a space-saving drop-down door that allows for tool changes and maintenance without increasing the machine’s footprint. Tool storage has also been minimized to free up valuable floor space.

To enhance operational intelligence, the QX-800 comes pre-installed with Sentinel 5.0, Ishida’s AI-powered monitoring software.

It provides real-time machine analytics, performance notifications, and comprehensive production line insights.

The user interface is intuitive, offering quick access to guides, performance data, and engineer-level diagnostics. Tooling presets can be saved and transferred to streamline changeovers even further.

Tara concluded, “Speed, quality, and cost-efficiency are critical in today’s food industry. The QX-800 combines all these elements in a compact design that supports sustainable packaging and reduces operational costs. We’re excited to bring this solution to market.”
