CZECH REPUBLIC – Ishida Europe, a leading supplier of complete weighing and packing line solutions, has opened a new center of excellence in Prague, Czech Republic to support clients in the region.
According to Ishida, the new center will provide a variety of training programs – both practical and classroom-based – across Ishida’s extensive range of packing line equipment.
Some of the equipment that clients will train on include multihead weighers, checkweighers, X-ray inspection systems, tray sealers, seal testers, snacks bagging machines, and Industry 4.0 solutions.
In addition, the center will offer repair and maintenance for customer machines to support Ishida’s European-wide service teams.
The X-ray inspection system enhances food safety at Paula Ingredients
Earlier, the company installed its Ishida IX-GN-4043 x-ray inspection system at Polish natural dried products manufacturer Paula Ingredients.
The installation reportedly enhanced product safety and quality while delivering the high production throughput required.
Based in Kalisz in Central Poland, PaulA Ingredients specializes in the production of a variety of snacks made from dried fruits and vegetables and aimed at health-conscious consumers.
For this sophisticated and demanding target audience, the highest quality standards are essential.
Previously the company used a combination of metal detectors, magnets, and sifting equipment to check for foreign bodies in the delicate bulk product which comes in a wide variety of shapes including cubes, slices, and flakes.
However, this process was not effective as it still allowed occasional unwanted foreign bodies to pass undetected.
IX-GN-4043’s simple and intuitive operation has also allowed product changeovers at the company to be carried out in a matter of seconds simply by changing the product pre-sets.
Packaging line for limited spaces
Ishida has also successfully delivered a packaging system designed to fit in a very confined space of only 10.5 mx 2.2 m with a ceiling height of only 2.8 m without compromising on the set performance requirements.
The automated line belonging to Swiss meat processing company Micarna consists of two Ishida 12-head fresh food weighers, operating as four separate machines and
The packaging line can weigh and pack six types of products ranging in weight from 65g to 90g, according to Ishida Europe.
Despite being confined in a small space, the new equipment achieves an impressive capacity of 112 trays per minute and allows product changes to make within a very short time.
Ishida reports that it’s client Micarna is very pleased with the new automated weighing and packaging solution.
“The new system is so efficient that we will soon start diverting more orders from Micarna to the new production facility in Bazenheid,” said Patrick Nyffenegger, Technical Project Manager at Micarna
The ten-month project was carried out by Ishida in close collaboration with Itech AG, which represents Ishida in Switzerland.
