Labelexpo Americas: Domino to unveil 1200dpi hybrid printing and inspection system

USA – Domino Printing Sciences (Domino) will unveil its latest innovation, the N730i Integration Module, a 1200dpi digital print engine designed to integrate flexographic printing lines at Labelexpo Americas.

This launch addresses the growing demand for high-resolution digital hybrid printing and finishing, allowing label converters to offer superior print quality and flexibility.

The N730i Integration Module, based on Domino’s Generation 7 platform, supports high-speed digital printing, making it ideal for applications requiring variable data.

Attendees can learn more about this technology during a special presentation at Labelexpo on Tuesday, 10 September 2024, at 3:00 PM UTC+5, at the Innovation Stage (booth 2043).

Domino’s Digital Color product manager Michael Matthews emphasized the industry’s demand for quick-turnaround, high-quality labels.

He said, “We developed the N730i to provide label converters with a future-proof, cost-effective digital hybrid printing solution that offers a competitive edge. Its modular design enables converters to collaborate with their preferred OEM partner to build a customized system tailored to their production needs.”

The N730i module is equipped with Domino’s i-Tech features, BITSTAR printhead technology, and proprietary TPO-free inks, ensuring superior detail reproduction, including micro text and CJK characters.

It delivers consistent, high-resolution printing across all colors at speeds of up to 70 meters per minute, maintaining high-opacity white printing even at top speed.

In addition to the benefits of hybrid printing, such as enhanced productivity and efficiency, the N730i’s Sunrise DFE (Digital Front End) enables real-time inline RIP for label jobs that require customization and variable data, making it easier to manage multiple SKUs without offline setup.

Alongside the N730i, Domino will also introduce the R-Scan, a new inline monitoring and print inspection system developed in collaboration with Lake Image Systems. This system, designed for the N730i digital label press, will be demonstrated at booth 5821.

The R-Scan provides automated monitoring of print quality, color consistency, and registration at high speeds, reducing setup time and supervision requirements.

By identifying errors quickly, the system helps improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), minimize waste, and ensure reliable label quality, which in turn secures repeat business for converters.

Tony McNulty, Domino’s chief product officer, highlighted the importance of the partnership with Lake Image Systems.

Tony said, “The R-Scan camera system is a great example of how our collaboration helps customers achieve consistent quality with minimal waste, reinforcing our commitment to delivering integrated solutions that do more for our clients.”
