LOC España’s second BOBST Master M5 press strengthens high-volume complex label production

SPAIN – LOC España has installed a second BOBST MASTER M5 inline flexo press at its Spanish plant, strengthening its capacity to meet growing demand for complex, high-quality labels in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetics sectors.

To effectively manage the growing volume and intricacy of incoming orders for self-adhesive labels serving the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors, LOC España runs three shifts at its facility, requiring production lines that can maintain error-free output even at high speeds. 

The decision to duplicate its existing MASTER M5 was driven by the need for greater flexibility and efficient workflow balancing, with the identical configuration enabling shared tooling, operator expertise and smooth job transitions between lines. 

The new press incorporates Print Tutor Technology to ensure consistent output quality across all jobs.

The manufacturer’s value proposition rests on its ability to handle demanding job specifications, with clients expecting high quality and zero defects on every job. 

LOC España has built a reputation for managing complex projects including multilayer labels, variable numbering in booklet-style formats, reserved areas, special adhesives and intricate die-cutting solutions. 

The company is also directing investment towards food labelling applications, including labels designed for high-speed dual-head application equipment, where performance and precision are critical. 

The second press supports this high-stakes work by providing redundancy, enabling the company to maintain production continuity and reduce downtime when one line requires maintenance. 

The investment aligns with LOC’s strategy of expanding its capabilities without compromising on the quality that has defined its 40-year history in the industry.

Why a Third BOBST Press and First Digital Unit Will Shape the Converter’s Future

LOC España plans to install a third BOBST machine before year-end, while a fully digital press is also scheduled to arrive in the same timeframe, marking a significant expansion beyond its current flexo-only operations. 

An open house hosted jointly with BOBST and Avery Dennison earlier this month demonstrated the manufacturer’s integrated workflow and collaborative approach to its label industry partners. 

Jordi Giralt, head of BOBST’s labels division, noted that the converter’s growth from one machine to two, and soon three, serves as an inspiration for the company, reinforcing the long-term partnership that has developed over more than a decade since LOC first installed a BOBST MASTER M4 through the brand’s Spanish distributor.
